Shaadi (horse)
Shaadi (20 May 1986 – 8 January 2008) was an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He showed very promising form as a two-year-old in 1988 when he won both of his races. In the following year he won the Craven Stakes but then ran very poorly in the 2000 Guineas. He produced his best form in his next two races, recording decisive wins in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and the St James's Palace Stakes. He was unplaced in his two remaining races and was retired from racing at the end of the season. He stood as a breeding stallion in Europe and Japan, having limited success as a sire of winners. Background Shaadi was a dark-coated bay horse with two white socks, bred in Kentucky by Edward A Cox Jr. He was an unusually late foal, being born on 20 May 1986. Danzig (horse)
Danzig (February 12, 1977 – January 4, 2006) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who is best known as a leading sire. He was purchased for $310,000 (equivalent to $ million in ) by Henryk de Kwiatkowski at the 1978 Saratoga Yearling Sale. The son of Hall of Famer Northern Dancer and the most commercially successful sire of the second half of the 20th century, he won all three of his races before knee problems ended his racing career. Stud record Danzig was retired to stand at stud at Claiborne Farm near Paris, Kentucky, where he became one of the world's most important sires. He led the U.S. sires list from 1991 to 1993 and topped the sire list in Spain and the United Arab Emirates. Danzig sired 188 graded stakes race winners and 10 champions. Conditions Races
Conditions races are horse races in which the weights carried by the runners are laid down by the conditions attached to the race. Weights are allocated according to the sex of the runners, with female runners carrying less weight than males; the age of the runners, with younger horses receiving weight from older runners to allow for relative maturity, referred to as weight for age; and the quality of the runners, with horses that have won certain values of races giving weight to less successful entrants. Conditions races are distinct from handicap races, for which the weights carried are laid down by an official handicapper to equalise the difference in ability between the runners. Walter Swinburn
Walter Robert John Swinburn (7 August 1961 – 12 December 2016) was a flat racing jockey and trainer who competed in Great Britain and internationally. Biography Swinburn was born in Oxford. He was the son of Wally Swinburn, who won the Irish flat racing Champion Jockey title in 1976 and 1977 and was the first jockey to record over 100 winners in an Irish flat season. Nicknamed the "Choirboy", he rode his first winner, Paddy's Luck, on 12 July 1978 at Kempton Park but gained considerable fame for riding the superstar Shergar to victory in The Derby in 1981 by a record 10 lengths. Darley Stud is located at Dalham Hall, the global breeding operation owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai and vice-president of the United Arab Emirates. Keeneland Association, Inc. is an equine business based in Lexington, Kentucky. Rodrigo de Triano (foaled 27 May 1989 – 5 August 2014) was an English Thoroughbred Champion racehorse. Regal Rose
Regal Rose (foaled 7 May 1998) is a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She was undefeated in a brief racing career which consisted of two races as a two-year-old in the summer and autumn of 2000. After winning a maiden race at Ascot Racecourse on her debut she defeated twelve opponents to take the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes in September. She remained in training in 2001 but suffered a leg injury in spring and was retired later that year without contesting another race. She has had some success as a broodmare. Cheveley Park Stakes
The Cheveley Park Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to two-year-old fillies. It is run on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late September. History The event is named after Cheveley Park, an estate purchased by Harry McCalmont in 1892. It was established in 1899, and the inaugural running was won by Lutetia. The race is currently held on the final day of Newmarket's three-day Cambridgeshire Meeting, the same day as the Cambridgeshire Handicap.
