Señora Ama (film)
''Señora Ama'' ( en, The Lady of the House) is a 1955 Spanish-Mexican drama film directed by Julio Bracho. It was filmed in 1955 and released in 1957. It starred Dolores del Río based in the same name play by Jacinto Benavente. Plot The story is about the marriage between Feliciano (Jose Suarez) and Dominica (Dolores del Rio), owners of a ranch. They have years of marriage, and Dominica has not been able to conceive any children. Feliciano has a reputation as a womanizer and he fathered many illegitimate children. It is implied that his infidelity due to the inability of his wife to give him a son. Dominica defends her husband in public, but reproaches him in private. But she never deviates from her commitment to love him until death. In the house also lives Maria Juana (María Luz Galicia), younger sister of Dominica. Julio Bracho
Julio Bracho Gavilán (17 July 1909 – 26 April 1978) was a Mexican film director and screenwriter. Bracho was born as ninth of eleven children of Julio Bracho y Zuloaga and his wife Luz Pérez Gavilán. His sister Guadalupe Bracho Pérez-Gavilán became known as Andrea Palma, his brother Jesús became known as theatrical designer and painter, and his brother Toribio, became Jesuit and missionary in China. Two of his cousins were Dolores del Río and Ramón Novarro. The family moved to Mexico City in 1913. He was engaged in modern theater projects in Mexico, he was founding member of the ''Teatro Orientación'', and he founded and organized the ''Escolares del Teatro'' group, Mexico City, in 1931, as well as the ''Trabajadores del Teatro'' group in 1933, and the ''Teatro de la Universidad'' in 1936. Jacinto Benavente
Jacinto Benavente y Martínez (12 August 1866 – 14 July 1954) was one of the foremost Spanish dramatists of the 20th century. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1922 "for the happy manner in which he has continued the illustrious traditions of the Spanish drama". Biography Born in Madrid, the son of a celebrated pediatrician, he returned drama to reality by way of social criticism: declamatory verse giving way to prose, melodrama to comedy, formula to experience, impulsive action to dialogue and the play of minds. Benavente showed a preoccupation with aesthetics and later with ethics. A liberal monarchist and a critic of socialism, he was a reluctant supporter of Francoist Spain as the only viable alternative to what he considered the disastrous republican experiment of 1931–1936.
