Seán Scanlon
Seán William Scanlon (born 1 September 1988) is a retired Irish rugby union player. He played as a fullback or wing. During his professional career, Scanlon played for his home province Munster, before moving to England and playing for Rotherham, Doncaster and Nottingham. Early life Born in Limerick, Scanlon attended Crescent College and first began playing rugby there, whilst also playing for Garryowen's underage teams. From a family with a GAA background, Scanlon also played football for Limerick at minor level. After completing his leaving cert, Scanlon attended University College Cork and played for Cork Constitution in the amateur All-Ireland League, where impressive performances earned him a place in Munster's academy and a call up to the Ireland under-20s squad. All-Ireland League (rugby Union)
The All-Ireland League (AIL), known for sponsorship reasons as the Energia All-Ireland League, is the national league system for the 50 senior rugby union clubs in Ireland, covering both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The league was inaugurated in the 1990–91 season. Cork Constitution F.C are the only club to have constantly retained their status in Division 1 since 1990/91. All other clubs in the league have experienced relegation. The league is the second highest level of rugby union in Ireland, as professional teams representing the four provinces of Ireland play in the United Rugby Championship. Division 1 sides may field no more than two professional players in their matchday sides, and only one may be a forward. Division 2 sides may not field professional players. RFU Championship
The RFU Championship is an English rugby union competition comprising twelve clubs. It is the second level of men's English rugby and is played by both professional and semi-professional players. The competition has existed since 1987, when English clubs were first organised into leagues. Organisation and format The Championship is governed by the Rugby Football Union (RFU). The current competition format is a double round-robin tournament, where teams play each other home and away. Rob Penney
Robin Hugh Penney (born 27 April 1964) is a New Zealand rugby union coach and former representative player. Generally known as Rob Penney he played in the positions of Flanker or No.8 throughout his career, most notably for Canterbury. He has served in various coaching roles since 2005. He is the current Head coach of the Crusaders in Super Rugby. Playing career Penney played over 100 games for Canterbury between 1985 and 1994 in what was then the First division, the highest level of provincial rugby in New Zealand. Penney also played in an All Black trial in 1992. He later played for Marlborough in lower division rugby in 1996 and 1997. He played for the Burnside club in Christchurch and Awatere in Marlborough. Denis Hurley (rugby Union)
Denis Hurley (born 15 July 1984) is a former Irish rugby union player, who represented Munster and Ireland. He played as a fullback, wing or centre. Early life Hurley attended Castleknock College, Dublin, St Patrick's Classical School in Navan and St Munchin's College, Limerick. Munster Hurley made his Munster debut against Llanelli Scarlets in May 2006, in a Celtic League fixture. He sprung to notice when he was preferred to Shaun Payne at fullback in Munster's 2007–08 Heineken Cup quarter-final clash with Gloucester. He stayed at fullback for the semi-final against Saracens, and started in the 2008 Heineken Cup Final against Toulouse, which Munster won 16–13. Johne Murphy
Johne Murphy (; born John Edmund Murphy 10 November 1984) is a retired Irish rugby union player who played wing, fullback or centre. On 27 August 2015, Murphy announced his retirement from rugby. Family Murphy was born John Edmund Murphy to John and Mary Murphy of Rathangan, County Kildare. He was named after his father and uncle Edmund. The unusual spelling ''Johne'', pronounced like "Johnny", was originally "John E.", whereby his mother used his middle initial to distinguish him from his father. He attended Newbridge College. Simon Zebo
Simon Zebo (born 16 March 1990) is an Irish former rugby union player who played as a wing or fullback for clubs Munster and Racing 92 and for Ireland and the British and Irish Lions. Early life Born in Cork, Zebo attended Beaumont Boys School and Presentation Brothers College, Cork. In his youth he also played hurling for Blackrock GAA and association football for Avondale United. Keith Earls
Keith Gerard Earls (born 2 October 1987) is an Irish former rugby union player who played as a wing for United Rugby Championship club Munster and the Ireland national team. He retired following the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Early life Earls was born in Moyross, a council estate in Limerick, to Ger and Sandra Earls. He has one younger sister. Ger was well-known in Limerick for his playing exploits with Thomond and Young Munster, winning the 1992–93 All-Ireland League with the latter, and for being part of the Munster team that beat 1991 World Cup winners Australia in 1992. Doug Howlett
Douglas Charles Howlett (born 21 September 1978) is a retired New Zealand professional rugby union player. He was primarily a wing, but he also sometimes played as a fullback. He played for Auckland, and the Highlanders, Hurricanes and Blues in Super Rugby. He finished his career with Munster in Ireland. With 49 tries in 62 tests, Howlett is currently the seventh-highest try scorer in rugby union history and the top try scorer for New Zealand. Felix Jones (born 5 August 1987) is an Irish rugby union coach and former player. He played primarily as a Rugby union positions#Full-back, fullback, but could also play on the Rugby union positions#Wing, wing.
