Seán O'Meara (Tipperary Hurler)
Seán O'Meara (1951 - 6 February 2010) was an Irish hurler. At club level he played with Kilruane MacDonaghs and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career O'Meara first played hurling and Gaelic football at juvenile and underage levels with the Kilruane MacDonaghs club. He won a North Tipperary U21AFC title in 1970 before captaining the under-21 hurlers to divisional honours two years later. By that stage O'Meara had already joined the club's senior team after making his debut in 1970. He won a Tipperary SFC title in 1975 before later being part of the Kilruane senior hurling team that won three consecutive Tipperary SHC titles from 1977 to 1979. At inter-county level, O'Meara never played at minor or under-21 levels as a hurler, however, he was drafted onto the Tipperary under-21 football team in 1972. Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA
Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "North-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the villages of Kilruane, Ardcroney and Cloughjordan. The club was founded in 1937 and is named after Thomas MacDonagh, a signatory of the 1916 Proclamation who was born and lived in Cloughjordan. The clubhouse and playing field are located in Cloughjordan. The finest day in the club's history was in 1986 when it won the Senior Hurling Club All-Ireland title, defeating Buffers Alley of Wexford GAA in the final by 1-15 to 2-10. The club incorporates many of clubs that existed in the parishes at the time. A forerunner to the MacDonaghs club was the famous De Wets formed in 1900. All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling Under-20 All-Ireland Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Hurling Under-20 All-Ireland Championship) is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in Ireland. The championship was contested as the All-Ireland Under-21 Championship between 1964 and 2018 before changing to an under-20 age category from 2019. The final, currently held on the fourth Sunday in August, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during the summer months, and the results determine which team receives the James Nowlan Cup. North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Hibernian Inn North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the North Tipperary Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1907 for senior hurling teams in North Tipperary, Ireland. The series of games begins in March, with the championship culminating with the final in August. The championship has always been played using a knock-out format. The North Tipperary Championship was, until recent times, an integral part of the wider Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship. The winners and runners-up of the North Tipperary Championship joined their counterparts from the other three divisions to contest the county championship quarter-finals. 13 clubs currently participate in the North Tipperary Championship. The 1978 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 88th staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887. Kilruane MacDonaghs entered the championship as the defending champions. On 15 October 1978, Kilruane MacDonaghs won the championship after a 2–14 to 2–13 defeat of Roscrea in the final at Semple Stadium. In some team sports, a selector is a member of a selection panel which chooses teams or individuals to represent a country or club or other representative team in sporting competitions. For example, a selector in cricket is an administrative position involved in choosing players to represent a particular team in a match.
