Seán MacManus (politician)
Seán MacManus is an Irish Sinn Féin politician, and was the national chairperson of the party from 1984 to 1990.. Sinn Féin. Background MacManus was born in 1950 near Blacklion, County Cavan, Ireland and moved to London in the 1960s to find work. There he met and married Helen McGovern, a native of Glenfarne, County Leitrim. In 1976, he returned to Ireland and settled in the Maugheraboy area of Sligo town, County Sligo so that their family of two boys could be educated in Ireland. Still based in Maugheraboy, MacManus has been involved in Irish Republican politics since the early 1970s and was secretary of the County Sligo Anti-H-Block Committee which campaigned in support of the republican prisoners hunger strikes of 1980/81. He became a member of the Sinn Féin Ard Comhairle (National Executive) in 1982 and remained there for over twenty years. Sean J. McManus (born February 16, 1955) is the chairman of CBS Sports and was the president of both CBS Sports and CBS News from 2005 to 2011. Education and early career McManus graduated from Fairfield College Preparatory School, a private Jesuit high school in Fairfield, Connecticut, and Duke University. In 1977, McManus began working as a production assistant and associate producer at ABC Sports. In 1979, he moved to NBC Sports and in 1982, aged 27, he became its vice-president of program development. Here he first became involved in rights negotiations, for sports such as the Olympic Games, football, tennis, basketball, horse racing and auto racing. In 1987, he became a senior vice president of American TV sales and programming for Trans World International, the television division of sports marketing firm International Management Group. Seán Gabriel McManus (born 1944 in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland) is an American human rights, justice, peace campaigner and Roman Catholic priest. Birth and family McManus was born in the parish of Kinawley, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. He is a brother of Frank McManus, former Unity MP, and Patrick McManus, a member of the IRA who was killed in an explosion in 1958 during the IRA's "Border Campaign". Activism In 1971, McManus was a Redemptorist Father in Perth, Scotland. In August 1971, he was arrested in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, after a demonstration, because he intervened to stop the police beating up a young boy. Shaun McManus
Shaun John McManus (born 9 February 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer. He is one of the most popular players to ever represent the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) and is often seen as an icon or favourite son of the club. He has been described as the AFL's uphill skiing champion due to his courage, persistence and resilience in overcoming two knee reconstructions. He was the co-captain of Fremantle in 2000 and 2001, the second player to reach 200 games with the club, and his 228 games was the second most games played for Fremantle behind Shane Parker at the time of his retirement. Following the retirement of Peter Bell during the 2008 season, McManus became the last remaining player from Fremantle's inaugural squad to still be playing in the AFL.
