Seán Kelly (Kerry Gaelic Footballer)
Seán Kelly (1925 – 10 August 2012), also known as Seán Ó Ceallaigh, was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played at club level with Dingle and at inter-county level with the Kerry senior football team. He usually lined out as a forward. Career Kelly first came to prominence as a Gaelic footballer with St. Brendan's College in the Munster Colleges Championship, before later lining out at club level with Kilcummin and the Civil Service club in Dublin. His inter-county career began as a 27-year-old when he was first selected for the Kerry senior football team in 1952. Kelly won his only All-Ireland Championship title after lining out at full-forward in a defeat of Armagh in 1953. His other honours include two Munster Championship titles and inclusion on the Munster team for the Railway Cup. Kilcummin GAA
Kilcummin is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Kilcummin, near Killarney in County Kerry, Ireland. The club, which was founded in 1910, fields teams in Gaelic football only, with no hurling played. Together with 12 other football clubs, they form the East Kerry Division of Kerry GAA. The East Kerry board runs its own competitions for clubs within the division, including the East Kerry Senior Football Championship and the East Kerry Junior Football Championship. Railway Cup
The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The first Railway Cup competitions (the name is due to the donation of the trophy by Irish Rail) were held in 1927, with Munster winning the first football title and Leinster winning the first hurling title. Presently, Ulster hold the record for the most football Railway Cup wins with 30, while Munster has won the most hurling titles with 43. Kilcummin Gaelic Footballers
Kilcummin () is a beachhead and civil parish on the northern coast of County Mayo in Ireland. Traditionally a fishing community, the Kilcummin area is sparsely populated. The "Tír Sáile - North Mayo Sculpture Trail" and "Tour d'Humbert" tourist route lead through the area. Kilcummin overlooks Killala Bay, the blue flag beach "An Trá nRoss", "Bartra Island" and lies on the opposite shore to Enniscrone and its beach in County Sligo. Name Kilcummin is named after the early Irish saint Cuimín, and derives from the Irish ''Cill Chuimín'', meaning "church of Cuimín". Other variants of the Irish spelling (seen on local signage) include "''Cilcummin''" and "''Cill Chummín''". Seán Kelly (born 26 April 1952) is an Irish politician who has been a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Republic of Ireland, Ireland for the South (European Parliament constituency), South constituency since July 2009. He is a member of Fine Gael, part of the European People's Party. He served as the 34th President of the Gaelic Athletic Association from 2003 to 2006. He was the first person from County Kerry to hold the office, being elected at his first attempt by a record margin at the GAA Congress in 2002. In July 2006, he took up the position of Executive Chairman of the Irish Institute of Sport, a body that was set up in Republic of Ireland, Ireland to support elite athletes and players, and served as Executive President until he announced his resignation in July 2008.
