Seán Condon
Seán Condon (11 June 1923 – 27 October 2001) was an Irish hurler who played as a centre-forward at senior level for the Cork county team. Condon joined the team during the 1942 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1951 championship. During that time he won three All-Ireland medals and three Munster medals. An All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion, Condon captained Cork to a fourth successive All-Ireland title in 1944. At club level Condon was a four-time county club championship medalist with St Finbarr's. Playing career Club Condon played his club hurling with St Finbarr's and had much success. He first played for the famous "Barr's" club in the minor grade and collected three successive championship medals in that grade between 1939 and 1941. St Finbarr's National Hurling & Football Club
St Finbarr's National Hurling & Football Club or St Finbarr's Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Togher area of Cork city, County Cork, Ireland. St Finbarr's, who play in royal blue and gold jerseys, are the only club in Ireland to win All-Ireland club championships in both hurling and football. The club has won Cork County Senior Championships in every decade except the first decade of the 21st century. This record was almost upheld in 2009 when the club reached the final in the Cork County Senior Football Championship, only to lose out by a point to Clonakilty. The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship of 1944 was the 58th staging of Ireland's premier hurling knock-out competition. Cork won the championship, beating Dublin 2-13 to 1-2 in the final at Croke Park, Dublin. The 1943 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 57th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament. The championship began non 2 May 1943 and ended on 5 September 1943. The championship was won by Cork who secured the title following a 5-16 to 0-4 defeat of Antrim in the All-Ireland final. The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. Terry Leahy (hurler)
Thaddeus Leahy (9 March 1917 – November 1988) was an Irish people, Irish sportsperson. He played hurling at various times with his local clubs Emeralds in Kilkenny and Faughs in Dublin. Leahy was also a member of both the Kilkenny and Dublin senior inter-county teams from 1938 until 1949. Playing career Club Leahy played his club hurling with his local Emeralds club in Urlingford, however, he enjoyed little success with the club and never won a senior county title. Leahy later played club hurling with the Faughs club in Dublin and he won seven county titles. Inter-county Leahy first came to prominence on the inter-county scene as a member of the Kilkenny minor team in the 1930s. He won a Leinster title in this grade in 1935 before later lining out in the minor championship decider. Liam MacCarthy Cup
The Liam MacCarthy Cup is a trophy awarded annually by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) to the team that wins the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the main competition in the prehistoric sport of hurling. Based on the design of a medieval drinking vessel, the trophy was first awarded in 1923 to the winners of the (delayed) 1921 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final. The original 1920s trophy was retired in the 1990s, with a new identical trophy awarded annually since 1992. The original trophy is on permanent display in the GAA Museum at Croke Park in Dublin.
