The Seychelles Postal Service, is the public operator responsible for postal service in Seychelles. The Seychelles Postal Service is a member of the Universal Postal Union as accepted into the organization on 7 October 1977 using the International Organization for Standardization, ISO Code: ISO 3166-2:SC. It is a signatory to the 2016 Postal Payment Services Agreement. History Seychelles first post office was opened in 1861 though letters may have been carried privately since 1824. A central post office, as a sub-office of Mauritius, was opened in Victoria, Seychelles, Victoria in 1861 but used Postage stamps and postal history of Mauritius, Mauritius stamps. Except for improvements and repairs the Victoria post office has remained in the same location since opening. British India Steam Navigation Company ("BI") was formed in 1856 as the Calcutta and Burmah Steam Navigation Company. History The ''Calcutta and Burmah Steam Navigation Company'' had been formed out of Mackinnon, Mackenzie & Co, a trading partnership of the Scots William Mackinnon and Robert Mackenzie, to carry mail between Calcutta and Rangoon. It became British India SN Co in 1862. A Crown colony or royal colony was a colony administered by The Crown within the British Empire. There was usually a Governor, appointed by the British monarch on the advice of the UK Government, with or without the assistance of a local Council. In some cases, this Council was split into two: an Executive Council and a Legislative Council, and was similar to the Privy Council that advises the Monarch. Wavel Ramkalawan
Wavel Ramkalawan (born 15 March 1959) is a Seychellois politician and Anglican priest who has been serving as the president of Seychelles since 26 October 2020. Ramkalawan was an opposition MP from 1993 to 2011 and 2016 to 2020. He also served as the Leader of the Opposition from 1998 to 2011 and 2016 to 2020.
