Sexually Induced Sneezing
Sexually induced sneezing or sex sneeze is a phenomenon characterized by sneezing during orgasm or sexual arousal. Signs and symptoms The person experiences sneezing as a result of sexual thoughts, arousal, intercourse, or orgasm. Sneezing occurs independent of external nasal stimuli or allergens, and may occur at any point during a sexual experience. Both men and women are affected by the phenomenon. Sneezing
A sneeze (also known as sternutation) is a semi-autonomous, convulsive expulsion of air from the lungs through the nose and mouth, usually caused by foreign particles irritating the nasal mucosa. A sneeze expels air forcibly from the mouth and nose in an explosive, spasmodic involuntary action. This action allows for mucus to escape through the nasal cavity. Sneezing is possibly linked to sudden exposure to bright light, sudden change (fall) in temperature, breeze of cold air, a particularly full stomach, exposure to allergens, or viral infection. Because sneezes can spread disease through infectious aerosol droplets, it is recommended to cover one's mouth and nose with the forearm, the inside of the elbow, a tissue or a handkerchief while sneezing. Snatiation
Snatiation is a term coined to refer to the medical condition originally termed "stomach sneeze reflex", which is characterized by uncontrollable bursts of sneezing brought on by fullness of the stomach, typically immediately after a large meal. The type of food consumed does not appear to affect its occurrence. It is reported, based on a preliminary study, to be passed along genetically as an autosomal dominant trait, as first described by Ahmad Teebi and Qasem Al-Saleh in 1989. The term "snatiation", coined shortly thereafter in a humorous letter to the ''Journal of Medical Genetics'' by Judith G. Hall, is a portmanteau of the words ''sneeze'' and ''satiation''. Hall also provides the humorous backronym, Sneezing Non-controllably At a Time of Indulgence of the Appetite—a Trait Inherited and Ordained to be Named. The photic sneeze reflex (also known as Autosomal Dominant Compelling Helio-Ophthalmic Outburst (ACHOO) syndrome or photoptarmosis, of the combining form from Ancient Greek φῶς, ''phōs'', "light" and πταρμός, ''ptarmós'', "sneeze", colloquially sun sneezing or photosneezia) is an inherited and congenital autosomal dominant reflex condition that causes sneezing in response to numerous stimuli, such as looking at bright lights or periocular (surrounding the eyeball) injection. The condition affects 18–35% of the world's population, but its exact mechanism of action is not well understood. Honeymoon Rhinitis
Honeymoon rhinitis (or honeymoon nose) is a condition in which the sufferer experiences nasal congestion during sexual intercourse or arousal. The condition appears to be genetically determined and caused by the presence in the nose of erectile tissue which may become engorged during sexual arousal, as a side effect of the signals from the autonomic nervous system that trigger changes in the genitals of both men and women. Women also get an itchy nose when they want to perform oral on a male partner. A related condition called sexually induced sneezing also exists, where people sneeze, sometimes uncontrollably, when engaging in or even thinking about sexual activity. George Milbr(e)y Gould (November 8, 1848 Auburn, Maine – August 8, 1922 Atlantic City) was an American physician and lexicographer. Life At 12 years, he enlisted and became a drummer boy in the American Civil War, serving in the 63rd Ohio Infantry (1861–2) and later in Company K, 141st Ohio Infantry during 1864. After the war, he entered the Ohio Wesleyan University and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1873 and a Master of Arts in 1892. He also received the Phi Beta Kappa key. He graduated from Harvard Divinity School (1874) and worked as the owner of a bookstore. He entered Jefferson Medical College in 1885 and graduated in 1888.
