Fikret Mashadi Jamil oghlu Amirov ( az, Fikrət Məşədi Cəmil oğlu Əmirov; November 22, 1922, Ganja – February 20, 1984, Baku) was a prominent Soviet and Azerbaijani composer. Biography Fikret Amirov grew up in an atmosphere of Azerbaijani folk music. His father, Mashadi Jamil Amirov, was a famous mugam singer ("''xanəndə''"), who played tar and composed, including the 1915 opera '' Seyfal mulk''. During his childhood and early adolescence, Fikret began composing pieces for the piano. Upon his graduation from the Ganja Music College, Amirov entered the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire, now known as the Baku Music Academy, where he was a student of Boris Zeidman and Uzeyir Hajibeyov. Jafar Jabbarly
Jafar Gafar oglu Jabbarly, ( az, Cəfər Qafar oğlu Cabbarlı, 20 March 1899, Khizi – 31 December 1934, Baku) was an Azerbaijani playwright, poet, director and screenwriter. Life After his father's death in 1902, Jabbarli's mother moved to Baku with her four children. In 1915, Jabbarli graduated from high school and studied electromechanics at Baku Polytechnicum for the next 5 years. In 1920 he was admitted to Azerbaijan State University to study applied medicine but due to his lack of interest soon switched to Oriental studies. ''Sevil'' is a play by Azerbaijani playwright Jafar Jabbarly written in 1928. It focused on the theme of the role of women, their oppression, struggle, and ultimately, victory over dated patriarchal traditions. Many women discarded their veils in the city theater after seeing the play. Later adaptations of the play were less extreme compared to the original. It was made into a film with the same title in 1929, which was shown throughout Central Asia and the Caucasus. Plot The action takes place in Baku in 1918-1919. Sevil and Balash is an Azerbaijani couple of peasant origin. While Sevil dedicates herself to home and family, Balash achieves some position in society and despises his wife for her simple manners. Sevil Soyer (born 1950) is a Turkish interdisciplinary artist. Soyer has had solo exhibitions and group exhibitions along with several installations in Turkey and the United States. Early life She was born in Turkey and graduated in 1979 from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Career In 1993 Soyer and Onay Sozer, a philosophy professor in Istanbul University, worked together on the manifesto of “Inter-disciplinary-art”. In 1994 Soyer created the “Ah Guzel Istanbul” (Interdisciplinary Art Exhibition) with 40 Turkish artists. This exhibition was supported by the Ministry of Culture of Turkey.
