Severiano Álvarez (1933 – September 23, 2013) was a Leonese language writer. He was born in Cuevas del Sil (in the municipality of Palacios del Sil), province of León. He had two mentions in Leonese language in their region variety in 1982 and 1983, and was awarded with two more in 1983. He died on September 23, 2013, aged 80. Severiano Ballesteros Sota (; 9 April 1957 – 7 May 2011) was a Spanish professional golfer, a World No. 1 who was one of the sport's leading figures from the mid-1970s to the mid-1990s. A member of a gifted golfing family, he won 90 international tournaments in his career, including five major championships between 1979 and 1988: the Open Championship three times and the Masters Tournament twice. He gained attention in the golfing world in 1976, when at the age of 19, he finished second at The Open. He played a leading role in the re-emergence of European golf, helping the European Ryder Cup team to five wins both as a player and captain. Ballesteros won a record 50 European Tour titles. Severiano Sainz Y Bencamo
(7 November 1871 in Pinar del Río, Cuba - 14 March 1937 in Matanzas, Cuba) was the second bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Matanzas (1915–1937). His parents were Juan Sainz y María Antonia Bencomo. When he was very young he was taken to Spain and commenced his studies with the Jesuits in Orduña. He later returned to Cuba and in 1891 he was studying at the San Carlos and San Ambrosio Seminary. He was ordained a priest on 23 December 1898 by Mons. Manuel Santander Frutos Bishop of Havana. On 19 September 1907, he was named Administrator of Cementerio Cristóbal Colón. In 1914, he was offered the Archdiocese of Santiago de Cuba and refused. He was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Matanzas by Pope Benedict XV on 11 February 1915 and consecrated in the Cathedral of Matanzas on 3 May 1915 by Mons. Severiano de Heredia (8 November 1836 – 9 February 1901) was a Cuban-born biracial politician, a freemason, a left-wing republican, naturalized as French in 1870, who was president of the municipal council of Paris from 1 August 1879 to 12 February 1880, making him the only native of the American continent who was appointed on relevant post of the Mayor of Paris and the first mayor of African descent of a Western world capital. In 1880, he succeeded Victor Hugo in the presidency of the Philotechnical Association. He served in the Chamber of Deputies from 1881 to 1889 and was briefly Minister of Public Works for the cabinet of Maurice Rouvier in 1887, at the time when the Eiffel Tower first started being built, where he planned and oversaw the construction of some of the finest French highways. Henrique Nuno Pires Severiano Teixeira (born November 5, 1957, in Portuguese Guinea) is a Portuguese academic and politician. Severiano Teixeira is a full professor at New University of Lisbon, and was also the vice rector of the same institution. He is director of the Portuguese Institute of International Relations (IPRI), an academic research institute that belongs to NOVA University of Lisbon. Estádio General Severiano was a football stadium located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was the home stadium of Botafogo and it had a maximum capacity of 20,000 people. History The stadium was built in 1912, It was inaugurated on May 13, 1913, when Botafogo beat Flamengo 1–0. After a reformation led by architect Rafael Galvão that lasted ten years, Estádio General Severiano was reinaugurated on August 28, 1938, when Botafogo beat Fluminense 3–2. Severian is the narrator and main character of Gene Wolfe's four-volume science fiction series ''The Book of the New Sun'', as well as its sequel, '' The Urth of the New Sun''. He is a Journeyman of the Seekers for Truth and Penitence (a Guild of torturers) who is exiled after showing mercy to one of his clients.
