Sevenoaks Senior College
Sevenoaks Senior College is a comprehensive public co-educational high day school, located in Cannington, southeast of Perth, Western Australia, close to the Cannington railway station. Opened in 2001, the school is a senior secondary campus which accepts Year 11 and Year 12 students from the Perth metropolitan region. History The school is sited on the grounds of what was formerly Cannington Senior High School, which was built in 1965 and existed until 2000. The decision was made to close Cannington and open two new schools—Cannington Community College (K–10) and Sevenoaks Senior College (Years 11 and 12). Sevenoaks cost A$8.6 million to build, and was formally opened on 19 September 2001 by Minister for Education Alan Carpenter, although it had been operating since the beginning of 2001. The Curriculum Council of Western Australia is a defunct government department that once set curriculum policy directions for kindergarten to year 12 schooling in Western Australia. Yule Brook College
Yule Brook College is a public co-educational middle day school, located on Dellar Road in Maddington, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Overview The college was initially established in 1978 as Maddington Senior High School, and renamed as Yule Brook College in 2000. It caters for students from Year 7 to Year 10. The school's creation was a result of government restructuring education facilities in the south east metropolitan corridor. Two new middle schools, Yule Brook and Cannington Community College, were opened in 2000 and 2001 respectively. A new senior campus, Sevenoaks Senior College for Year 11 and 12 was also opened in the old Cannington Senior High School site. Enrolments at the school have been reasonably stable with around 250 students when Year 7 started intake at the school in 2015. Alan Carpenter
Alan John Carpenter (born 4 January 1957) is a former Australian politician who served as the 28th Premier of Western Australia, from 2006 to 2008. From Albany, Carpenter graduated from the University of Western Australia, and worked as a journalist before entering politics. A member of the Labor Party, he was first elected to the Legislative Assembly at the 1996 state election, representing the seat of Willagee. In the Gallop ministry, which took office following the 2001 election, Carpenter was Minister for Education (later Education and Training), as well as holding several other portfolios.
