Seven Keys (game Show)
''Seven Keys'' was an American game show hosted by Jack Narz and based on '' Snakes and Ladders''. ''Seven Keys'' aired from September 12, 1960, to January 15, 1965; initially on Los Angeles' KTLA and then on ABC before ending on KTLA. The first KTLA series was one of the few non- syndicated television game shows to air daily in nighttime. The ABC version aired in daytime. Game play A solo contestant attempted to advance along a 70-square board by solving problems on certain squares. The contestant pressed a button to stop a spinning dial, then moved the number of spaces shown on the dial, from 1 to 10. The contents of the boards varied. Some had pictures of celebrities and others had word puzzles. One board required the contestant to determine which celebrity in a pair was missing, while another dealt with the United States and their state capitals. ''Yours for a Song'' is an American game show, created by Bob Russell, that aired on American Broadcasting Company, ABC from 1961–1963 with Bert Parks as host and Johnny Gilbert as announcer. The series, which filmed in New York City, aired in primetime from November 14, 1961 to September 18, 1962 and in daytime from December 4, 1961 to March 29, 1963. This program was replaced by the soap opera, ''General Hospital'', which was ABC's first "modern-day" soap the following Monday. Gameplay Two contestants alternated picking songs, then singing their lyrics each with six words missing. For each correct word the contestant filled-in, he/she won a cash award ($10 in daytime, $20 in nighttime); if the contestant was wrong, no money was awarded for that word and Parks would gently prod them in the direction of the word until it was correctly guessed. The UCLA Film & Television Archive is a visual arts organization focused on the preservation, study, and appreciation of film and television, based at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Lost television broadcasts are mostly those early television programs which cannot be accounted for in studio archives (or in personal archives) usually because of deliberate destruction or neglect. Common reasons for loss A significant proportion of early television programming was never recorded in the first place. Early broadcasting in all genres was live and sometimes performed repeatedly. Due to there being no means to record the broadcast or, later, because the content itself was thought to have little monetary or historical value it was not deemed necessary to save it. In the United Kingdom, early programming was lost due to contractual demands by the actors' union to limit the rescreening of performances. ''Your First Impression'' is an NBC daytime game show which aired from January 2, 1962, to June 26, 1964. A panel of three celebrities tried to guess the identity of mystery guests from clues supplied by the host. Bill Leyden was the MC of the program, with Dennis James as a regular panelist or alternating host. Filmed in Burbank, California, ''Your First Impression'' was a Monty Hall-Art Stark Production. Hall was the series executive producer. The program aired at Noon Eastern time and followed another game, ''Concentration'', then hosted by Hugh Downs. ''Love of Life'' is an American soap opera televised on CBS from September 24, 1951, to February 1, 1980. It was created by Roy Winsor, whose previous creation ''Search for Tomorrow'' premiered three weeks before ''Love of Life''; he created ''The Secret Storm'' two and a half years later. Production ''Love of Life'' originally came from Liederkranz Hall on East 58th Street in Manhattan. Mike and Buff (Mike Wallace), Ernie Kovacs, and ''Douglas Edwards and the News'', as well as ''Search for Tomorrow'' and ''The Guiding Light'' also came from that location. The program originated at other studios in Manhattan, but primarily at the CBS Broadcast Center on West 57th Street and CBS' Studio 52 behind the Ed Sullivan Theater. ''Missing Links'' is a Goodson-Todman game show hosted by Ed McMahon which originally ran on NBC from September 9, 1963 to March 27, 1964, then moved to ABC for its final nine months, with Dick Clark replacing McMahon as host. Game play A panel of three celebrities faced a studio contestant who came in with an unusual story. He/she read the story to the panel. When he/she came to a sentence with a blank or blanks at the end or near the end, each panelist tried to guess the missing word or words. A correct answer from one celebrity won $50 for the contestant (unlike most panel shows using this type of format), but an incorrect answer passed the turn to the next celebrity. If all three missed, the host gave the starting letter or letters of the answer and the round continued as before, with a correct guess earning only $25. Edward Leo Peter McMahon Jr. (March 6, 1923 – June 23, 2009) was an American announcer, game show host, comedian, actor, singer, and combat aviator. McMahon and Johnny Carson began their association in their first TV series, the ABC game show ''Who Do You Trust?'', running from 1957 to 1962.
