Seuls
''Seuls'' is a Franco-Belgian fantasy adventure children's comic book series written by Fabien Vehlmann and drawn by Bruno Gazzotti for Spirou Magazine. It centers on the adventures of five children who must fend for themselves in a mysterious world without adults. It was published in hardback albums by Dupuis from January 2006. The series comprises 13 volumes divided into 3 cycles. The series has twice won a Prix Jeunesse 9-12 ans at the Angoulême Festival in 2007 and 2010. It has also received two Grand Prix du Journal de Mickey. The albums have also been published in Dutch (by Dupuis), in English (by Cinebook), in German (by Piredda), in Norwegian (by QltrRebus) and in Spanish (by Dibbuks). Fabien Vehlmann
Fabien Vehlmann (born 30 January 1972) is a French comics writer best known for '' Green Manor'' and ''Seuls''. Yvan Delporte dubbed him "The René Goscinny of the third millennium". Biography Fabien Vehlmann, born in 1972 in Mont-de-Marsan, grew up in the Landes and the Savoie. He studied in Nantes. He started writing comics in 1996, but only got to work for '' Spirou'' magazine the next year, where he provided very short stories for the weekly summary of the magazine. Soon, some stories of a few pages followed, with artwork by a number of different artists, including Eric Maltaite and René Follet. His first recurring series was '' Green Manor'' with Denis Bodart. With Bruno Gazzotti he created ''Seuls''. In January 2009, it was announced in '' Spirou'' magazine #3694 that Jean-David Morvan and José-Luis Munuera would be succeeded as the creative team behind the series ''Spirou et Fantasio'' by Yoann and Vehlmann, who had together created the first volume of '' Une aventure ... ''Spirou'' (french: Le Journal de Spirou) is a weekly Franco-Belgian comics magazine published by the Dupuis company since April 21, 1938. It's an anthology magazine with new features appearing regularly, containing a mix of short humor strips and serialized features, of which the most popular series would be collected as albums by Dupuis afterwards. History Creation With the success of the weekly magazine ''Le Journal de Mickey'' in France, and the popularity of the weekly ''Adventures of Tintin'' in ''Le Petit Vingtième'', many new comic magazines or youth magazines with comics appeared in France and Belgium in the second half of the 1930s. Bruno Gazzotti
Bruno Gazzotti (born 16 September 1970) is a Belgian comic book artist. He has drawn several popular comic book series, such as ''Soda'' and ''Seuls''. Childhood Gazzotti's Italian grandfather had been a miner, and his father lived in Belgium from a very early age. Both his parents were sport instructors, and comic enthusiasts. As a child, Gazzotti was himself very interested in Franco-Belgian comics such as Tintin. In 1988, he was hired by Spirou's editor in chief Patrick Pinchart, who, after seeing the portfolio, commissioned a few illustrations. He had previously studied at Institut Saint Luc in Liège. Early career Shortly after, he drew Le petit Spirou ( from the 20th strip onwards ), with writers Janry and Tome. Based in Marcinelle near Charleroi, Dupuis was founded in 1922 by Jean Dupuis, and is mostly famous for its comic albums and magazines. Thomas Doret (born 10 December 1996) is a Belgian actor, best known for playing the role of Cyril in ''The Kid with a Bike'', and as Coco in ''Renoir''. Life and career Doret was born in Seraing.
