Setnor School Of Music
Setnor School of Music, officially The Rose, Jules R., and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music, is one of seven academic units of the College of Visual and Performing Arts of Syracuse University. It is housed primarily in the historical Crouse College building. History Syracuse University's first music professor was hired within the College of Fine Arts in 1877. The Music Department was founded in 1887, making Syracuse the first universities in the country to grant four-year degrees in music and require four years’ study in both music and theory. Syracuse University is a founding member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and houses the first accredited Music Industry program in the country (B.M. in Music Industry). In 1945, the College of Fine Arts was reorganized to include the School of Music, School of Architecture, and the School of Art. Martin Bandier
Martin N. "Marty" Bandier (born July 21, 1941) is an American music industry executive who was the CEO/Chairman of Sony/ATV Music Publishing for 11 years. Bandier studied at Stuyvesant High School, Syracuse University, and Brooklyn Law School. He practiced with Battle, Fowler, Jaffin and Kheel, and then became General Counsel to the LeFrak Organization. In 1991, he became chairman and CEO of EMI Music Publishing Worldwide. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2007 he became chairman and CEO of Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Early life and education Bandier was born July 21, 1941, and grew up in Queens. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School at 16. At Syracuse University he met his first wife – Denise LeFrak, daughter of housing developer Samuel LeFrak – and majored in political science and history and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1961.
