Setapak, Kuala Lumpur
Setapak is a mukim in Gombak District, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Formerly a tin-mining and rubber estate area, in Malay ''tapak'' means 'step' so ''Setapak'' means 'one step', probably referring to the close proximity of the suburb to Kuala Lumpur. Another explanation of the origin of its name traces to its historical roots. History The earliest inhabitants of Setapak were the aborigines (''orang asli''), and the Minangkabaus. On 12 April 1884 Frank Swettenham, the British Resident of Selangor pleaded for the re-appointment of Batu Tapak as the headman of the aborigines living in that area, and hence the name ''Setapak'', in honour of the headman. Titiwangsa Lake Gardens
Titiwangsa Lake Park ( ms, Taman Tasik Titiwangsa) is an urban park in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. History The gardens feature a large central lake that was a byproduct of tin mining activities under British Rule. Later on, the area was cleaned up and developed into a park.The name Titiwangsa was chosen because Titiwangsa is a mountain range that forms the backbone of Peninsular Malaysia. Before that, the park was named after Taman Jalan Kuantan. The name felt appropriate because the view of the park's flat land and its greenery reflected the scenery and climate of the mountain range. Architecture The park spreads across an area of with a of lake. Gombak LRT Station (211031)
Gombak (previously known as the Terminal PUTRA LRT station) is an LRT station in Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia. It is the northern terminus for the RapidKL Kelana Jaya Line. There is a ticket counter for buses to Genting Highlands, with buses departing to the Genting Skyway station every half-hour. These buses belong to and are operated by Resorts World Berhad and therefore bear their logo on it. This station is normally utilised by residents of Kuala Lumpur, especially those living around Setapak area when they are going to Genting. The Gombak toll plaza, the beginning of the East Coast Expressway (LPT) , is one kilometre north from this station. Currently this station is the northernmost in the RapidKL rail transport network. Setapak High School ( Malay: ''Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tinggi, Setapak'') is a secondary school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Established in 1955, it is an all-boys school, with the exception of the coed Sixth Form. In the local community, the school is known as High School and Setapak High.
