''Servants of Chaos'' is a compilation album by American heavy metal band Cirith Ungol, released under Metal Blade Records on September 5, 2001. The album was released during the band's hiatus (which lasted from 1992–2016), and contains content from all four of their studio albums ( Frost and Fire, King of the Dead, One Foot in Hell, and Paradise Lost), their 1979 self-titled demo, as well as previously unreleased live recordings of the band throughout the years. The original release of the album contains 31 tracks, on two CD's. The album was re-released on vinyl on November 21, 2011. The album was re-released once again on January 31, 2012, with the addition of a bonus DVD-video of a live performance on November 9, 1984, at the Wolf & Rissmiller's Country Club—which was located in the Reseda neighborhood of Los Angeles. Cirith Ungol (band)
Cirith Ungol is an American heavy metal band formed in late 1971 in Ventura, California. This early doom and power metal group is known for lyrics based on fantasy (particularly sword and sorcery). The band took their name from the mountain pass Cirith Ungol in J. R. R. Tolkien's epic fantasy novel, ''The Lord of the Rings''. Throughout the 1970s, the band generally played a style of heavy metal heavily rooted in hard and progressive rock. Its first studio album, '' Frost and Fire'' (1981), featured a heavier sound, generally regarded as an early example of American power metal. Reseda Country Club was a nightclub and multi-purpose venue located on Sherman Way in Reseda, California. The building started off as a Sav-On drug store in the 1950s and later became a music venue in 1980 when Chuck Landis purchased the site. It originally featured country music acts, hence its name.
