The Serie A2 di pallanuoto maschile is the second division of the Italian water polo male national championship. The tournament involved 24 teams, which are divided into two groups according to the geographical position of the teams, each consisting of twelve associations, the Northern group and the Southern group. It's played a regular season with two stages at the end of which the top four teams of each group participating in play-off, tithes and eleventh to play-out and the latest recede directly to Serie B. The Serie B di pallamano maschile is the third division of the Italian water polo male national championship. The tournament involved 40 teams, which are divided into four groups consisting of ten teams. At the end of the regular season the top two teams of each group participating in the stage of the play-off, from which four winners emerge that achieve promotion to Serie A2. Coppa Italia (men's Water Polo)
The men's Coppa Italia is the water polo domestic Cup of Italy. The trophy is organized by FIN and reserved to Serie A1 teams. The first edition took place in 1970 and the most successful club is Pro Recco, winner of the competition for 16 times. History and format The first edition of the trophy was held in 1970 and was won by Canottieri Napoli. Later, Coppa Italia was held discontinuously except for a nine-years streak of back-to-back seasons between 1984–85 and 1992–93. The trophy was resumed regularly starting from 2004–05 season. Since this last inception, the most successful team has been Pro Recco, which won the Cup for 13 times out of 15 editions.
