Serhiy Korniychuk
Lieutenant General Serhiy Petrovych Korniychuk (Ukrainian: Сергій Петрович Корнійчук; born on 12 September 1965) is a Ukrainian army officer who became the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 27 March 2020. General Korniychuk was dismissed as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the 28th July 2021. Biography Serhiy Korniychuk was born on 12 September 1965. In 1982 he entered the and became an artilleryman. He began his service in the artillery regiment of the 10th Guards Tank Division of the 3rd Army of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany. After two years of service he headed a howitzer artillery battery. For excellent participation of the unit in military exercises he was awarded the medal "For Military Merit". The 13th Army (, ) was a name given to several field armies of the Soviet Union's Red Army. Later armies existed until the 1990s, and the army survived as part of the Ukrainian Ground Forces for some years. Russo-Finnish War The 13th Army was created again at the end of December 1939 as a ''separate 13th Army'' in the course of the Soviet advance into the Karelian Isthmus when the 7th Army was split into two, and also renamed separate, after being substantially reinforced. The 6th Army Corps () was one of three army corps of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. The Corps was headquartered in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine. Its units were spread across Poltava Oblast, Sumy Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast, and Kirovohrad Oblast. The Corps was formed in 1993 after the collapse of the Soviet Union from a redesignation of the former Soviet 6th Guards Tank Army. It was disbanded in 2013 when the Ukrainian Ground Forces were reorganized, being replaced by Operational Command South. History 6th Guards Tank Army had incorporated three tank divisions, the 17th Guards Tank Division, 17th Guards, 42nd, and 75th Guards Tank Division, 75th Guards.
