Serhiy Komisarenko
Serhiy Vasylʹovych Komisarenko ( uk, Сергій Васильович Комісаренко; born July 9, 1943) is a Ukrainian scientist, politician, and diplomat. He was a self-nominated candidate in the 2004 Ukrainian presidential election, and is chairman of thO. Palladin Institute of Biochemistryof the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Scientific career Komisarenko received an M.D. degree in 1966 from the Bogomolets National Medical University, Kyiv Medical Institute and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Kyiv University in 1970. He worked at the Palladin Institute of Biochemistry, Ukrainian Academy of Sciences from 1969 to 1992, becoming its director in 1992. He became an academician of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences in 1991, and of the Ukrainian Academy of Medical Sciences in 1993. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom ( uk, Надзвичайний і Повноважний посол України у Сполученому Королівстві Великої Британії та Північної Ірландії) is the ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom. The current ambassador is Vadym Prystaiko. He assumed the position in 2020. The first Ukrainian ambassador to the United Kingdom assumed his post in 1992, the same year a Ukrainian embassy opened in London.
