Canoeing At The 2015 Pan American Games
Canoeing competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games surrounding Toronto were held in two disciplines: the sprint, from 11 to 14 July and the slalom, from 18 to 19 July. The slalom competition will be held at the Minden Wild Water Preserve in Minden Hills. The sprint events were staged at the Welland Pan Am Flatwater Centre in Welland. At the Pan American Sports Organization's 2013 general assembly in Jamaica, canoe slalom competitions were added to the program. This was the first time slalom was staged at the Pan American Games. Canoeing competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, are scheduled to be held at the Rio Canete located in the city of Lunahuaná ( slalom) and Albufera Medio Mundo in the city of Huacho ( sprint). Canoeing at the 2007 Pan American Games took place at the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, the same venue that hosted the Rowing and Water Skiing. Although the initial intention of the Organizing Committee was to have the whole Olympic program at the Pan American Games, the slalom competitions were abandoned due to the few number of probable participating countries. The competition in Flatwater Racing comprised the twelve Olympic Events.
