Sergio Michel "Checo" Pérez Mendoza (; born 26 January 1990) is a Mexican Auto racing, racing driver who races in Formula One for Red Bull Racing, having previously driven for Sauber, McLaren, Force India, and Racing Point. He has won Grand Prix races and scored podium finishes. He won his first Grand Prix driving for Racing Point at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, breaking the List of Formula One driver records#Most races before first win, record for the number of starts before a race win at 190. He earned his first Formula One pole position at the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, breaking the record for the most races before a first pole position at 215. Up until 2012, Pérez was a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy. He made his Formula One debut driving for Sauber during the 2011 Formula One World Championship, 2011 season. Racing Point F1 Team, which competed as BWT Racing Point F1 Team and commonly known as Racing Point, was a British motor racing team and constructor that Racing Point UK entered into the Formula One World Championship. Sauber Motorsport AG is a Swiss motorsport engineering company. It was founded in 1970 (as PP Sauber AG) by Peter Sauber, who progressed through hillclimbing and the World Sportscar Championship to reach Formula One in .
