Sergey Alekseyevich Lipinets (russian: Сергей Алексеевич Липинец; born 23 March 1989) is a Russian professional boxer and former kickboxer who held the IBF light-welterweight title from 2017 to 2018. Early life and kickboxing career Lipinets was born in Martuk, Kazakhstan, but moved to Russia at the age of 9. Lipinets originally competed as a kickboxer, medaling in competitions like the 2012 W.A.K.O. European Championships and the 2013 World Combat Games. Professional boxing career After a brief amateur boxing career in which he went 35–5, Lipinets turned pro in 2014. Light welterweight, also known as junior welterweight or super lightweight, is a weight class in combat sports. Boxing Professional boxing In professional boxing, light welterweight is contested between the lightweight and welterweight divisions, in which boxers weigh above 61.2kg or 135 pounds and up to 63.5 kg or 140 pounds. The first champion of this weight class was Pinky Mitchell in 1946, though he was only awarded his championship by a vote of the readers of the ''Boxing Blade'' magazine. Terence Allan Crawford (born September 28, 1987) is an American professional boxer. He has held multiple world championships in three weight classes, including the WBO welterweight title since 2018. Previously he held the WBO and ''Ring'' magazine lightweight titles from 2014 to 2015; and the unified WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO and ''Ring'' light welterweight titles between 2015 and 2017. In August 2017, Crawford had a short reign as the undisputed light welterweight champion, prior to moving up to welterweight. The World Combat Games is an international multi-sport event featuring combat sports and martial arts. The games were founded by SportAccord (now known as the Global Association of International Sports Federations) as a way of bringing various martial arts and combative sports to an international audience. Custio Clayton (born October 5, 1987) is a Canadian professional boxer who has held the WBA- NABA welterweight title since 2019. As an amateur he is a six-time Canadian national champion and represented Canada at the 2012 Olympics, where he reached the quarter-finals. Amateur career Clayton began training at his great-uncle's gym, City of Lakes Boxing Club in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and fought his first amateur bout at the age of 11. He took a break from boxing for two years at the age of 17 to finish high school.
