Serenity (soundtrack)
The soundtrack to the 2005 motion picture '' Serenity'' was released on September 27, 2005. The film's score was composed by David Newman, and performed by the Hollywood Studio Symphony under Newman's direction. According to director Joss Whedon's sleeve notes for the album, Newman was recommended by Universal's music executives when he requested a musician capable of "everything." David Newman (composer)
David Louis Newman (born March 11, 1954) is an American composer and conductor known particularly for his film scores. In a career spanning more than thirty years, he has composed music for nearly 100 feature films, as well as the 1997 and 1998 versions of the 20th Century Studios fanfare. He received an Academy Award nomination for writing the score to the 1997 film ''Anastasia (1997 film), Anastasia'', contributing to the Newmans being the List of Academy Award-winning families#Extended family, most nominated Academy Award extended family, with a collective 92 nominations in various music categories. Barry Mendel (born 1963) is an American film producer.
