The Serbian People's Party ( sr, Српска народна партија, Srpska narodna partija, SNP) is a Right-wing populism, right-wing populist and National conservatism, national-conservative List of political parties in Serbia, political party in Serbia. It was formed in 2014 by former members of the Democratic Party of Serbia and is currently led by Nenad Popović. History and ideology The SNP was founded in September 2014 in the village of Kriva Reka (Čajetina), Kriva Reka in the Zlatibor region. Its founding members included Popović, Jovan Palalić, Milan Stamatović (who left the party two years later), and the political philosopher Bogdana Koljević. The party favors closer ties between Serbia and Russia and opposes Serbian membership in the European Union. Nenad Popović ( sr-cyr, Ненад Поповић; born 30 September 1966) is a Serbian politician and businessman who served as Minister without portfolio (Serbia), minister without portfolio from 2017 to 2022. A long-time member of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), he left the party in 2014 and formed the Serbian People's Party (2014), Serbian People's Party (SNP). Milan Stamatović (Serbian Cyrillic: Милан Стаматовић, , born 24 May 1960) is a Serbian politician who has been the President of the municipality of Čajetina since 2004. He was an independent candidate in the 2017 Serbian presidential election. 2017 Serbian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Serbia on 2 April 2017. Incumbent president Tomislav Nikolić was eligible to run for a second five-year term, but opted not to do so. Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić was elected president in the first round. The election was marred by accusations of voter intimidation and a near total domination of the Serbian media by Vučić and his party. 2022 Serbian General Election
General elections were held in Serbia on 3 April 2022 to elect both the president and members of the National Assembly. Initially, parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held in 2024; however, in October 2020 president Aleksandar Vučić stated that snap parliamentary elections would be held in or before April 2022. In addition to the general elections, local elections were held simultaneously in 12 municipalities and 2 cities, including Belgrade. Snežana R. Petrović ( sr-Cyrl, Снежана Р. Петровић; born 8 December 1965) is a politician in Serbia. She has served in the National Assembly of Serbia since 2016 as a member of the Serbian People's Party (''Srpska narodna partija'', SNP). Early life and career Petrović was born in Kosjerić, in what was then the Socialist Republic of Serbia in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. She has a bachelor's degree in economics. Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 24 April 2016. Initially, the election were originally due to be held by March 2018, but on 17 January 2016 Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić called for a snap election claiming Serbia "needs four more years of stability so that it is ready to join the European Union". 2014 Serbian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 16 March 2014, with nineteen electoral lists competing for 250 members of the National Assembly. The election was called early, after tensions in the coalition led by the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS). President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić scheduled the election at the same time as the previously announced Belgrade City Assembly election. Voter turnout was 53.09%, with 3.22% of votes invalid.
