Septentrional, meaning "of the north", is a Latinate adjective sometimes used in English. It is a form of the Latin noun ''septentriones'', which refers to the seven stars of the ''Plough'' (Big Dipper), occasionally called the ''Septentrion''. In the 18th century, septentrional languages was a recognised term for the Germanic languages. Etymology and background The ''Oxford English Dictionary'' gives the etymology of ''septentrional'' as: "Septentrional" is more or less synonymous with the term "boreal", derived from Boreas, a Greek god of the North Wind. Viking Revival
The Viking revival was a movement reflecting new interest in, and appreciation for Viking medieval history and culture. Interest was reawakened in the late 18th and 19th centuries, often with added heroic overtones typical of that Romantic era. The revival began earlier with historical discoveries and early modern publications dealing with Old Norse culture. The first printed edition of the 13th-century ''Gesta Danorum'' or the ''Legend of the Danes'' by Saxo Grammaticus, came out in 1514 just as book printing began become more practical and printing trade was quickly spreading. Operation Septentrion was a 36-hour military operation of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), a NATO-led security mission, that took place December 16–18, 2009, in the Uzbin Valley of eastern Afghanistan. Septentrional-Oriente Fault Zone
The Septentrional-Orient fault zone (SOFZ) is a system of active fault, active coaxial left lateral-moving fault (geology)#Strike-slip faults, strike slip faults that runs along the northern side of the island of Hispaniola where Haiti and the Dominican Republic are located and continues along the south of Cuba along the northern margin of the Cayman Trough. The SOFZ shares approximately half of the relative motion between the North American plate, North American and Caribbean plate, Caribbean tectonic plates with the Enriquillo-Plantain Garden fault zone and Walton fault zone which run along the southern side of Hispaniola and aong the southern margin of the Cayman Trough. Anima Mundi (band)
Anima Mundi is a Cuban progressive rock band formed in 1996 that combines symphonic rock, new age, Celtic, space, and traditional Cuban music. Musically similar to the commercially successful British symphonic acts of the 1970s, the group incorporates multiple layers of synthesizer-led progressions with a rhythmic and percussive backdrop of sharp bass and polyphonic drumming while showcasing the virtuosity of lead synthesizers and guitar. Jean Raspail
Jean Raspail (, 5 July 1925 – 13 June 2020) was a French author, traveler, and explorer. Many of his books are about historical figures, exploration and indigenous peoples. He was a recipient of the prestigious French literary awards Grand Prix du Roman and Grand Prix de littérature by the Académie française. The French government honoured him in 2003 by appointing him to the Legion of Honor, with the grade of Officer.
