Benno Seppelt
Oscar Benno Pedro Seppelt (13 July 1846 – 11 May 1931), known universally as Benno Seppelt, was a South Australian winemaker who helped the Barossa Valley become recognised as a premium wine region. History Joseph Ernst Seppelt (1813 – 29 January 1868), his wife Johanna Charlotte Clementine Seppelt, née Held (1807 – 13 April 1870), and their children Ottilie Clementine Seppelt, later Kruger ( – 4 June 1920), Oscar Benno Pedro "Benno" Seppelt, and Victor Hugo Seppelt (1848–1882), emigrated to South Australia aboard the ship ''Emmy'', arriving at Port Adelaide in January 1850. Joseph Seppelt founded the winery Seppeltsfield, but died while it was still in its infancy. His son Benno, who was educated at Tanunda, and studied chemistry under C. W. L. Muecke. took over management of the business on his father's death, and inherited the major portion of his estate. Hajo Seppelt
Hajo Seppelt (born 1963) is a German journalist and author. Personal life and education Seppelt was born in West Berlin, and is the son of Alfred Seppelt, who was the head of the Berlin Chess Federation from 1984 to 2004. In 1981, he obtained his college preparatory degree (''Abitur'') at the in Berlin's Lankwitz neighborhood. He studied sports, social studies, journalism and French at the Free University of Berlin for a few semesters but did not complete a degree. Career Since 1985, Seppelt has worked as a sports reporter for Germany's premier public broadcaster ARD. He has also worked for the Berlin public broadcaster Sender Freies Berlin and its 2003 successor Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg. After working for many years as a live commentary for swimming events for ARD, he was stripped of this duty in the early summer of 2006. Joseph Ernst Seppelt
Joseph Ernst Seppelt (1813 – 29 January 1868) was a German-born Australian viticulturist and merchant who migrated to South Australia in 1849, and in 1851 settled in the Barossa Valley where he established Seppeltsfield, South Australia and the Seppelt winery. Life Joseph was born in 1813 in Wüstewaltersdorf, Prussia, now known as Walim in Lower Silesia, Poland, his father had fought Napoleon's forces in Russia. After an education in music and arts, Seppelt toured Germany and Italy learning the aspects of tobacco, snuff and liqueur production in order to continue the family business.
