Separationofpowers (foaled February 9, 2015) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2018 Test Stakes. Career Separationofpowers's first race was on July 30, 2017, at Saratoga, where she came in first. In her second race, she competed in the September 2nd, 2017 Grade-1 Spinaway Stakes, but finished in 3rd. She had better luck the next month as on October 8, 2017, she won the Frizette Stakes. This was her final win of the year after a fourth place finish at the 2017 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. She had an ankle injury that caused her to miss most of the 2018 season. The break paid off though as she won the August 4th, 2018 Grade-1 Test Stakes upon her return. This was her only win of the 2018 season, after a disappointing fourth place finish at the Grade-1 2018 Cotillion Handicap. Candy Ride (foaled September 27, 1999 in Argentina) is a retired Thoroughbred racehorse who went undefeated in six starts on both turf and dirt racing surfaces in Argentina and the United States. In Argentina, he won the Gran Premio San Isidro and the Joaquin S. de Anchorena, setting a world record of 1:31.01 for 1,600 meters on the turf in the latter. He was named Argentina's Champion Miler of 2002. Relocated to the United States in 2003, he won the American Handicap and set a track record in the Pacific Classic Stakes. Frizette Stakes
The Frizette Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race for two-year-old fillies raced annually at Belmont Park in October. It is currently a Grade I stakes race at a distance of one mile. The Frizette is the female counterpart of the Champagne Stakes. The race is currently part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge series. The winner automatically qualifies for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. The Frizette was named for the James R. Keene owned and bred racing filly who won the Rosedale Stakes in 1907 and one of the most important foundation mares of the twentieth century. Sired by Hamburg, Frizette was the granddam of the Hall of Fame inductee, Myrtlewood. Bed O' Roses Invitational Stakes
The Bed O' Roses Invitational Stakes is a Grade III American Thoroughbred horse race for fillies and Mares four-year-olds and older, over a distance of seven furlongs on the dirt track held annually in early June at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. The event currently carries a purse of $250,000. History The race was named for Alfred G. Vanderbilt II's Hall of Fame inductee, Bed O' Roses, the American Champion Two-Year-Old Filly in 1949 and the American Champion Older Female Horse of 1952. This race was first run at Jamaica Race Course and continued there until 1959, after which it moved to Aqueduct Racetrack, where it was run until 2010. Test Stakes
The Test Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race open to three-year-old fillies and run each summer at the Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. It is contested at a distance of seven furlongs on the dirt and is an influential race in shaping the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. A Grade I event, it carries a purse of $500,000. It was first run at Saratoga in 1922. Over the years it has also become an important race for fillies pointing towards the Grade I Alabama Stakes which also runs at Saratoga Race Course. Unbridled (March 5, 1987 – October 18, 2001) was a champion American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 1990 Kentucky Derby and Breeders' Cup Classic. He retired with a career record of eight wins, six places, and six shows in 24 starts, and $4,489,475 in career earnings. He was the best horse of his generation in Europe at both two and three years of age, ahead of an outstanding group of contemporaries which included Chief Singer, Darshaan, Rainbow Quest, Sadler's Wells, Lashkari, Pebbles, Commanche Run and Northern Trick. Herbager (1956 – 25 March 1976) was a French Thoroughbred racehorse and an influential sire in both France and the United States. Background Herbager was sired by Vandale, a stayer who won the 1946 Prix du Conseil Municipal and whom Herbager helped make the 1959 Leading sire in France. His dam was Flagette (by Escamillo), who was inbred 2x2 to St. Leger winner Firdaussi, meaning both her parents were sired by him. Fappiano (May 19, 1977 – September 3, 1990) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse whose most important win was the 1981 Metropolitan Handicap. When retired to stud, he became a major sire whose offspring included Kentucky Derby winner Unbridled. He was named for Joseph C. Nichols (1905–1984), a long-time sportswriter for ''The New York Times'', who was born Giuseppe Carmine Fappiano. Cryptoclearance (April 9, 1984 in Kentucky – September 24, 2009) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the Florida Derby in 1987 and the Hawthorne Gold Cup in 1988 and 1999. A descendant of the great Nearco through his sire, Blushing Groom, he was out of the mare Bubble Company, a granddaughter of the 20th Century's greatest sire of sires, Northern Dancer. Candy Stripes is best known as the sire of 2007 American Horse of the Year, Invasor, and the 2005 American Champion Male Turf Horse, Leroidesanimaux. Candy Stripes was also the broodmare sire of the unbeaten, Candy Ride.
