''Halou'' is a dream pop band from San Francisco, California. Originally formed in 1997 by couple Rebecca and Ryan Coseboom, the band was officially dissolved in 2008 before breaking their 11 year hiatus with the release of their album ''Brutalism For Lovers'' (2019). History Ryan and Rebecca met in 1992 as the drummer and vocalist for the Santa Cruz-based band Anomie. That group would change Ryan's musical focus from techno pop (as the main keyboardist of Thinner) to more ambient guitar work, and transform Rebecca from a riot girl enthusiast into someone more at home with 4AD. Anomie's shoegaze sound met with rapid success in Santa Cruz on the strength of their album Burgundy Girl. The band later moved to San Francisco before the group split into two bands. In late 1995 Ryan and Rebecca's half formed "anymore" (as in: "We're not Anomie anymore.") and released two CDs. After "anymore" dissolved, they became Halou. Stripmall Architecture
Stripmall Architecture is an American dream pop group. It was formed when Ryan and Rebecca Coseboom's previous band, Halou, dissolved. The expanded band includes Tim Hingston (guitar), Patrick Harte (drums), Erica 'Unwoman' Mulkey (cello), and other supporting musicians for their live shows and recording sessions. The band used the service Kickstarter to generate funds to produce their new LP, ''Feathersongs For Factory Girls''. Part one was released in April 2010, and part two followed a year later in 2011. Both parts were released together on a limited numbered edition double 10" LP on white vinyl in early 2011. The band was interviewed on Seattle's KEXP 90.3 radio station on 12/09/09, performing several tracks live in studio. They also covered LCD Soundsystem's song "Drunk Girls". Nettwerk Music Group is an independent record label founded in 1984. The Vancouver-based company was created by principals Terry McBride and Mark Jowett as a record label to distribute recordings by the band Moev, but the label expanded in Canada and internationally. Initially specializing in electronic music including alternative dance and industrial, the label expanded its roster to include pop, rock and numerous singer-songwriters in the late 1980s and 1990s.
