Seoni (Lok Sabha Constituency)
Seoni was a Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh. This seat was created in 1962 as a Scheduled Tribe seat. Following its inaugural appearance on the election rolls, Seoni ceased to exist for the next two general elections before it was made a permanent open seat in 1977. Seoni
Seoni is a city and a municipality in Seoni district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. This tribal household dominated district was formed in the year 1956. Rudyard Kipling used the forests in the vicinity of Seoni, or as was spelled during British colonial rule, Seeonee, as the setting for the Mowgli stories in ''The Jungle Book'' and ''The Second Jungle Book'' (1894–1895), although the area is not an actual rainforest. Seoni is a city where tributary of the river Godavari, the Wainganga, originates. Seoni is reachable by road, major adjacent cities are Nagpur and Jabalpur. Kumari Vimla Verma (1 July 1929 – 17 May 2019) was an Indian politician and social worker. She was a Member of Parliament, having been elected from the Seoni constituency in the state of Madhya Pradesh as an Indian National Congress candidate. Life and career Vimla Verma was born in Nagpur, Maharashtra on 1 July 1929. She held an M.A and was educated at Allahabad University, Allahabad. Verma was a founder-member of the Education Committee of Seoni, the Arts College of Seoni, and the Madhya Pradesh State Social Welfare Board.
