Sentimental Journey (Ringo Starr Album)
''Sentimental Journey'' is the debut solo album by English rock musician Ringo Starr. It was released by Apple Records in March 1970 as the Beatles were breaking up. The album is a collection of pre-rock 'n' roll standards that Starr recalled from his childhood in Liverpool. As a departure from the experimental quality that had characterised solo LPs by George Harrison and John Lennon since 1968, it was the first studio album by an individual Beatle to embrace a popular music form. Starr began recording ''Sentimental Journey'' in London in October 1969, in response to Lennon's private announcement that he was leaving the Beatles. He recruited George Martin to produce the sessions and used different musical arrangers for each song. Starr made a promotional film for the song " Sentimental Journey", in which he performed with an orchestra and dancers at the Talk of the Town nightclub. The cover of the album shows Starr in front of a pub in the Dingle area of Liverpool, where he grew ...

''Sentimental Journey'' features many of the same people who worked on her first album, including producer Stuart Brawley and musician Joe Corcoran. "Pretty Paper" was the first single from the album and was released as a digital single on November 27, 2012. Rossum promoted the album by performing "These Foolish Things (Remind Me of You)" on '' The View'' and on ''Entertainment Tonight''. Other media appearances in support of the album included performances on '' Access Hollywood'' on January 25, '' Conan'' on Janu ...

Sentimental Journey (Houston Person Album)
''Sentimental Journey'' is an album by saxophonist Houston Person which was recorded in 2002 and released on the HighNote label. Reception In his review on Allmusic, Scott Yanow states "As the 21st century began, Houston Person was one of the last in a tradition of tough-toned but warm tenors able to straddle the boundaries between soul-jazz, hard bop, and soulful R&B. An expert at caressing and uplifting melodies, Person plays in the tradition of Gene Ammons. Person is in excellent form throughout this quartet/quintet date ... ''Sentimental Journey'' is a strong example of his talents". In JazzTimes, David Franklin wrote: "Houston Person is still carrying on the great tenor saxophone tradition that combines breathy soulfulness with blues-drenched, stomping swing. The lush-toned tenorist’s latest release, ''Sentimental Journey'', verifies his continuing command of the idiom. ... It’s an increasingly rare pleasure to hear a sensitive player like Houston Person pay respect to gr ...

Sentimental Journey (Lou Donaldson Album)
''Sentimental Journey'' is an album by jazz saxophonist Lou Donaldson, his first release for the Columbia label, featuring Donaldson with Lonnie Smith, Peter Bernstein, and Fukushi Tainaka, with Ray Mantilla contributing percussion on three tracks. The album was awarded 4 stars in an Allmusic review by Scott Yanow who states "Donaldson plays his usual mixture of blues, ballads and standards with a fine organ trio and the results are predictably swinging. The music could have been performed in 1965 but strangely enough the familiar style heard on this CD has not dated and still communicates. The enthusiasm of the musicians (who sound perfectly at home) has kept this popular idiom alive and sounding reasonably fresh".Yanow, S. Allmusic Reviewaccessed December 17, 2009. Track listing :''All compositions by Lou Donaldson except as indicated'' # " What Now, My Love?" Sentimental Journey (song)
"Sentimental Journey" is a popular song, published in 1944. The music was written by Les Brown and Ben Homer, and the lyrics were written by Bud Green. History Les Brown and His Band of Renown had been performing the song, but were unable to record it because of the 1942–44 musicians' strike. When the strike ended, the band, with Doris Day as vocalist, recorded the song for Columbia Records on November 20, 1944, and they had a hit record with the song, Doris Day's first #1 hit, in 1945. The song's release coincided with the end of the Second World War in Europe and became the unofficial homecoming theme for many veterans. The recording was released by Columbia Records as catalog number 36769, with the flip side " Twilight Time". The record first reached the ''Billboard'' charts on March 29, 1945, and lasted 23 weeks on the chart, peaking at #1. The song actually reached the charts after the later-recorded "My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time". About this same time, the ...
