Semra Ertan (31 May 1956 – 26 May 1982) was a Turkish migrant worker and writer in Germany who, in protest against racism, specifically, the treatment of Turks in Germany, set herself on fire in a Hamburg marketplace. Biography Semra Ertan was born on 31 May 1956, in Mersin, Turkey. She was the daughter of Gani Ertan and Vehbiya Ertan, who lived in Kiel and Hamburg as foreign workers. She moved to Germany at the age of 15, with her sisters following a little later. In addition to working as an interpreter, she wrote more than 350 poems and political satires. Devoted to lyricism, one of her most notable poems, "Mein Name ist Ausländer" (My name is foreigner), was published in Turkish school books. Semra Sezer (née Kürümoğlu; born August 16, 1944) is a Turkish school teacher by profession and was the First Lady of Turkey from May 16, 2000, until August 28, 2007, during the presidency of her husband Ahmet Necdet Sezer. She was born on August 16, 1944, in Yenimahalle, Ankara to the family of a bank officer, Kemal Kürümoğlu. She completed her secondary education in 1962 at the Yenimahalle High School in Ankara. Semra Yetiş (born October 1, 1987) is a Turkish road cyclist and mountain biker. She competed between 2007 and 2009 for the first Turkish UCI mountain biking team Goldcity Alanya (). Following the dissolution of the team in early 2009, she went to Germany to ride on Koga Miyata Team for one season. Returned home, she signed for MKE Ankaragücü racing in 2010.
