Semperit Irish Car Of The Year
The Continental Tyres Irish Car of the Year award was established in 1978 based on similar Car of the Year awards. It is organised and judged by the Motoring Media Association of Ireland (MMAI), a grouping of motoring journalists in Ireland. The award was initially sponsored by Semperit and more recently by Semperit's owners, Continental Tyres. The award has eleven category winners: Irish Car of the Year (overall winner), Compact Car of the Year, Medium Car of the Year, Large Car of the Year, Compact SUV of the Year, Medium SUV of the Year, Large SUV of the Year, Green/Efficient Car of the Year, Performance/Luxury Car of the Year, Hot Hatchback of the Year, and, since 2019, MPV of the Year. The Volkswagen ID. series is a family of battery electric cars from Volkswagen (VW), built on the MEB platform (German: ''Modularer E-Antriebs-Baukasten;'' English'': modular electric-drive toolkit'') that is developed by the Volkswagen Group for a range of electric cars manufactured by its subsidiaries. Opel Kadett
The Opel Kadett is a small family car produced by the German automobile manufacturer Opel from 1936 until 1940 and then from 1962 until 1991 (the Cabrio continued until 1993), when it was succeeded by the Opel Astra. Ford Focus (first Generation)
The Ford Focus (first generation) is a compact car that was manufactured by Ford Motor Company, Ford in Europe from 1998 to 2004 and by Ford in North America from 1999 to 2007. Ford began sales of the Focus to Europe in July 1998 and in North America during 1999 for the 2000 model year. Manufacturing in Argentina continued until 2008, and it was still on sale in Brazil until 2009. Citroën Xsara
The Citroën Xsara () is a compact C-segment family car, produced by the French automaker PSA Peugeot Citroën, under their Citroën marque, from 1997 to 2006. The Xsara was a development of the Citroën ZX and Peugeot 306, which shared a platform and running gear. It came in three and five door hatchback (notchback) and five door estate body styles; the estate was marketed as the ''Break'' and the three door as the ''Coupé''. The styling shared cues with the larger Bertone designed Xantia, but was regarded as bland by the motoring press. Peugeot 406
The Peugeot 406 is a mid-size car, large family car that was produced by France, French automaker Peugeot between 1995 and 2004. The Opel Omega is an executive car engineered and manufactured by German automaker Opel between 1986 and 2004. The first generation, the Omega A (1986–1993), superseded the Opel Rekord. Fiat Tipo
The Fiat Tipo (Type 160) is a compact car, designed by the I.DE.A Institute design house, and produced by the Italian manufacturer Fiat between 1988 and 1995. The Tipo was initially available only as a five-door hatchback. The car was made entirely out of galvanized body panels to avoid rust, and was built on a completely new Fiat platform, which was later also used in Alfa Romeo and Lancia models. It also stood out because of its boxy styling that gave it innovative levels of packaging, rear passenger room being greater than that in a rear wheel drive Ford Sierra, but in a car that was of a similar size to the smaller Ford Escort.
