The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) is a trade association and lobbying group founded in 1977 that represents the United States semiconductor industry. It is located in Washington, D.C. One of the main achievements of the SIA was the creation of the first National Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors, in the early 1990s. Robert Norton Noyce (December 12, 1927 – June 3, 1990), nicknamed "the Mayor of Silicon Valley", was an American physicist and entrepreneur who co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor in 1957 and Intel Corporation in 1968. Charles E. Sporck (born November 15, 1927) is an American engineer and former company manager. He is best known for his role as chief executive officer and president of National Semiconductor from 1967 to 1991. ''The New York Times'' described Sporck as "a founding father of Silicon Valley". Walter Jeremiah Sanders III (born September 12, 1936) is an American businessman and engineer who was a co-founder and long-time CEO of the American semiconductor manufacturer Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
