1999 Malaysian General Election
A general election was held on Monday, 29 November 1999 for members of the 10th Parliament of Malaysia. Voting took place in all 193 parliamentary constituencies of Malaysia, each electing one Member of Parliament to the Dewan Rakyat, the dominant house of Parliament. State elections also took place in 394 state constituencies in 11 out of 13 states of Malaysia (except Sabah and Sarawak) on the same day. This was the last election for Mahathir Mohamad as Prime Minister and Chairman of Barisan Nasional, until 2018. This was also the first election held in a single day nationwide. Results Dewan Rakyat 6,631,094 out of 9,564,071 registered voters cast their vote in this election. Hishamuddin Hussein
Hishammuddin bin Hussein ( Jawi: هشام الدين بن حسين; born 5 August 1961) is a Malaysian politician and lawyer who served as Senior Minister of the Security Cluster and Minister of Defence from 2021 to 2022. A member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, he has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Sembrong since 2004, having previously been an MP for Tenggara from 1995 to 2004. Hishammuddin was born in Johor Bahru to Hussein Onn and Suhailah Noah. His father was the third prime minister of Malaysia. Lee Ting Han (born 1990) is a Malaysian politician and lawyer who has served as the Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Paloh since March 2022. Lee had studied at the SMK Permas Jaya, Johor Bahru (SMKPJ) from 2003-2009 before continuing his studies at the University of Malaya where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in law. He then continued his postgraduate study at University of Cambridge. Before flying to the United Kingdom, Lee briefly worked at the Prime Minister's Department. A member of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) which is also a composition of the Barisan Nasional (BN), he is working as the Special Function Officer to Wee Ka Siong, who has been serving as the Minister of Transport since 2020. The National Front ( ms, Barisan Nasional; abbrev: BN) is a political coalition of Malaysia that was founded in 1973 as a coalition of centre-right and right-wing political parties. It is also the third largest political coalition with 30 seats in the Dewan Rakyat after coalition Pakatan Harapan with 82 seats and the coalition Perikatan Nasional with 73 seats.
