Selph Building
The Selph Building is one of the first commercial buildings to be built in the downtown area of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Description and history The structure was built in 1913, and was originally designed to house a physician's office on its second floor. The first floor was used for various commercial enterprises including a shoe repair shop and cafe. The Selph was one of the first buildings to provide for a public restroom. The Selph is an 18-foot storefront, deep on the first floor, with a second floor deep. The building is of red brick with limestone trim. On the south facade there is a brick outhouse. Other nearby historic buildings include the Santa Fe Depot, the Citizens Bank Building, the Hoke Building, the Walker Building, and the Courthouse. Stillwater ( iow, Ñápinⁿje, ''meaning: "Water quiet"'') is a city in, and the county seat of, Payne County, Oklahoma, United States. It is located in north-central Oklahoma at the intersection of U.S. Route 177 and State Highway 51. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 45,688, making it the tenth-largest city in Oklahoma. The Stillwater Micropolitan Statistical Area had a population of 78,399 according to the 2012 census estimate. Stillwater Santa Fe Depot
The Stillwater Santa Fe Depot is a former railroad station located at 400 East 10th Street in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It served as a rail depot for the Santa Fe Railroad from 1900 until 1958. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it is an example of adaptive re-use of a historic building, serving as the national headquarters for two organizations. Citizens Bank Building (Stillwater, Oklahoma)
Citizens Bank is one of the original buildings in the downtown area (the Santa Fe Depot; the Hoke Building, the Selph Building, the Walker Building, the Courthouse) of Stillwater and only one of two buildings in the town with this early architectural style of the Nineteenth Century. It was constructed in 1894. Citizens Bank moved out in 1900, and a series of businesses have occupied the space to the present. These have included a harness and bridle shop (which later sold automobile tops), a barber shop with Stillwater's first beauty shop, a cafe, a justice of the peace who at various times ran a pawn shop, real estate office, insurance business, a feed store, bakery, clothing store and saloon. The Hoke Building is one of the original commercial buildings in the downtown area of Stillwater (the Santa Fe Depot; the Citizens Bank Building, the Selph Building, the Walker Building, the Courthouse). Walker Building (Stillwater, Oklahoma)
The Walker Building is one of the original buildings in the downtown area (others are the Santa Fe Depot; the Hoke Building, the Selph Building, the Citizens Bank Building, the Courthouse) in Stillwater. Built in 1914, it is a two-story red brick, 32 feet wide. The ground floor is 88 feet deep with a 10-foot passageway in the rear covered by a loft and a second story which is 100 feet deep. The Walker was originally a grocery, active for about 30 years.
