The population was 4,396 at the 2010 census and estimated at 4,400 at the 2018 census. It is named after Selma, Alabama. Buford Pusser served as the sheriff of McNairy County from 1964 to 1970. Demographics 2020 census As of the 2020 United States census, there were 4,446 people, 1,669 households, and 1,104 families residing in the town. 2000 census As of the census of 2000, there were 4,541 people, 1,935 households, and 1,234 families residing in the town.
