Selma Irmak (born 8 March 1971, Kızıltepe, Turkey), is a Kurds in Turkey, Kurdish politician from Turkey and former MP for the Peace and Democracy Party (Turkey), Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) and Peoples' Democratic Party (Turkey), People`s Democratic Party (HDP). Personal life The Turkish Parliament biographical file of Irmak is brief, listing her as a high-school graduate and single person. It was while she was studying to be a teacher at the Selçuk University in Konya, when she was arrested for the first time. Political career and legal prosecution In the 1990s, she spent almost ten years in prison on charges of membership of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). She was for several years a co-chair of the Democratic Society Party (DTP). In October 2008, she was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for praising crimes and criminals. Şırnak Province
Şırnak Province ( tr, Şırnak ili, ku, Parêzgeha Åžirnexê) is a province of Turkey in the Southeastern Anatolia Region. Şırnak Province was created in 1990, with areas that were formerly part of the Siirt and Mardin Provinces. It borders both Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Syria. The current Governor of the province is Ali Hamza Pehlivan. As of 2013, the province had an estimated population of 475,255 people. Considered part of Turkish Kurdistan, the province has a Kurdish majority. Geography Şırnak Province has some mountainous regions in the west and the south, but the majority of the province consists of plateaus, resulting from the many rivers that cross it. Labour, Democracy And Freedom Bloc
The Labour, Democracy and Freedom Bloc ( Turkish: ''Emek, Demokrasi ve Özgürlük Bloğu'') was an electoral alliance formed by the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) with several other smaller left-wing parties and political movements in Turkey. The alliance contested the 2011 general election by fielding candidates from participating parties as independents in order to bypass the 10% election threshold needed to win seats in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The alliance won 5.67% of the vote, initially winning 36 MPs. The Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey later annulled the election of BDP MP Hatip Dicle in Diyarbakır, reducing the alliance's elected MPs to 35. The Bloc fielded 65 candidates in 41 provinces. November 2015 Turkish General Election
General elections were held in Turkey on 1 November 2015 to elect 550 members to the Grand National Assembly. They were the 25th general elections in the History of the Republic of Turkey and elected the country's 26th Parliament.
