Cato Sells
Cato Sells (October 6, 1859 – December, 30 1948) was a commissioner at the Bureau of Indian Affairs from 1913 to 1921. Life and career He was born in Vinton, Iowa on October 6, 1859. He lost his father when he was young. He entered Cornell College in 1875. In 1878 he read law with Charles Alvord Bishop and in 1880 was admitted to Iowa State Bar Association and began practice at La Porte City, Iowa. In 1889 he moved to Vinton, Iowa and served on the Iowa State Central Committee. In 1887 he was chairman of the committee and was a delegate to the 1888 Democratic National Convention. He was a delegate to the 1892 Democratic National Convention as secretary. In 1892 was he was elected as a trustee of the Iowa State College of Agriculture. In 1893 he was president of the Iowa Democratic State Convention. Michael Sells
Michael Anthony Sells (born May 8, 1949) is John Henry Barrows Professor of Islamic History and Literature in the Divinity School and in the Department of Comparative Literature at the University of Chicago. Michael Sells studies and teaches in the areas of Qur'anic studies, Sufism, Arabic and Islamic love poetry, mysticism (Greek, Islamic, Christian, and Jewish), and religion and violence. Work He completed a new and expanded edition of his 1999 book ''Approaching the Qur'an: the Early Revelations'' which was the center of the case '' Yacovelli v. Moeser'' about the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's summer program in 2002. Sells Brothers Circus was a circus founded by Ephraim, William, Lewis and Peter Sells in Columbus, Ohio, United States. History The circus, more formally known as the Sells Brothers' Quadruple Alliance, Museum, Menagerie, Caravan and Circus, ran from 1862 to 1863 and again from 1871 to 1895. The circus was based out of Columbus, Ohio in an area that was known as Sellsville in Clinton Township along the Olentangy River near King Avenue. Sellsville was of considerable size, and many animals and staff lived in the area during the off seasons. It merged with the circus operated by Adam Forepaugh to form the Forepaugh-Sells Brothers' Circus in 1900. It later merged with the Floto Dog & Pony Show to become the Sells Floto Circus. Sells Park, popularly known as Athens Pond, is a public park near Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Claimed to be "one of Athens’s best hidden treasures", it comprises , and includes Sells Pond (Athens Pond) which is composed of an area of . Accessibility The park can be reached from uptown Athens by traveling on the bike path to the Athens Community Center (Rec Center), crossing East State Street to the Far East Side Neighborhood, and reaching the top of Avon Place. Vice-Admiral William Fortescue Sells CMG (19 January 1881 – 31 March 1966) was a Royal Navy officer who became Flag Officer, Dungeness Station. Tommy Lynn Sells (June 28, 1964 – April 3, 2014) was an American serial killer. He was convicted of one murder, for which he received the death penalty and was eventually executed. Authorities believe he committed a total of 22 murders and he claimed on various occasions to have murdered over 70 people. Early life Tommy Lynn Sells was born in Oakland, California on June 28, 1964 as one of five children to an unwed mother. Sells’ presumed biological father, Joe Lovins, died when Sells was 11. Sells and his twin sister, Tammy Jean, contracted meningitis when they were 18-months-old; Tammy died from the illness.
