Joseph Edgar Foreman (born July 28, 1974), better known by his stage name Afroman, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, comedian and musician. He is best known for his songs "Because I Got High", released in 2000, and "Crazy Rap", which was released in 2001 and both were featured on his album ''The Good Times''. Afroman was nominated for a Grammy award in 2002. Early life Born in Los Angeles, Afroman initially grew up in South-Central Los Angeles. He later lived in Palmdale in the High Desert of Southern California, and then Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Career Afroman's musical career began in the eighth grade, when he began recording homemade songs and selling them to his classmates. "The first tape I made was about my eighth-grade teacher", he once recalled. "She got me kicked out of school for sagging my pants, which was a big deal back then. T-Bones Records
T-Bones Records is a record label founded by producer Tim Ramenofsky (aka " Headfridge"). The label was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi when Ramenofsky was a member of the metal fusion band Loppybogymi. In 2000, Ramenofsky discovered rapper Afroman and produced the album, "Because I Got High". The record was originally released on T-Bones Records. The title track was soon posted on file-sharing service Napster and made it to ''The Howard Stern Show''. This song was the theme song of the film ''Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back'' and was later featured in the films '' Disturbia'' and ''The Perfect Score''. ''The Good Times'' is the fourth studio album by Mississippi-based rapper Afroman. It was released after his record deal with Universal Records, and is composed of material taken from his previous independent releases. It contains his two hit singles: "Because I Got High" and "Crazy Rap", along with his other popular songs from his two albums. Most of the songs on the album are about growing up in the ghetto of East Palmdale. The album was certified gold in the United States on October 24, 2001 by the RIAA. "Crazy Rap", also known as "Colt 45 and 2 Zig-Zags" or simply "Colt 45", is a song by American rapper Afroman. It was featured on his third album, ''Sell Your Dope'', and was later included on his greatest hits album, ''The Good Times''. It is often referred to as "Colt 45", as the hook states " Colt 45 and two Zig-Zags, baby that's all we need". The song failed to replicate the success of its predecessor but it nonetheless still charted across Europe, reaching the top 10 in the UK.
