Davie Selke
Davie Selke (; born 20 January 1995) is a German professional footballer who plays as a forward for Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln. Selke began his professional career with Werder Bremen in 2013 where he went on to score 10 goals in 36 appearances before signing for RB Leipzig in 2015 for a 2. Bundesliga record fee of €8 million. He spent two seasons with Leipzig, helping the club earn promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2016 and qualification to the UEFA Champions League the following year. Having scored 14 goals in 51 appearances, Selke then joined Hertha BSC in June 2017. He has also represented Germany at all youth levels and in 2014 was part of the squad which won the 2014 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, earning the Golden Boot and Golden Player awards for his performances at the tournament. Margrit Selke
Margrit Selke (1900–2004) was a specialist in biodynamic agriculture who did research with Dr.Ehrenfried Pfeiffer. From the early 1960s, until her retirement at the age of 97, she was the maker of the Pfeiffer BD Compost Starter and Field Spray 1. Along with Peter Dukich, Harris Porter and Erika Sabarth, she was considered as one of the "Three Musketeers" of Bio-dynamic Composting. All the "Musketeers" were noted for their remarkable longevity. Only Harris Porter died in his 80s, while Peter Dukich reached 94, Erica Sabarth, 84 and Margrit Selke, 105. The exceptionally prolific Selke Biodynamic Cherry tomato, Cherry Tomato was named after her. Ruth Eissler-Selke
Ruth Selke Eissler (born in Odesa, Russian Empire on February 21, 1906, and died in New York on October 7, 1989) was a Jewish–American physician and psychoanalyst. She is sometimes known as Ruth Eissler-Selke. Life Ruth was born in Odesa (now Ukraine). Her father Ludwig Selke ran a bank and then worked as a grain export trader. Her mother, Jenny Lewin, was born on May 17, 1877, in Warsaw. In addition to Ruth, the couple had four other children: Eugen, Rudya, Eva and Angela. The family moved several times in her youth to Hamburg and Danzig. Ruth Selke obtained her abitur in 1925 and then graduated from medical school at the University of Freiburg, Germany in 1930. She completed her residency in Heidelberg and after receiving her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Heidelberg (1932) and practiced in the Psychiatric Department of the Buerger Hospital in Stuttgart. Walter Selke
Walter Selke (born 1947) is a German retired professor for Theoretical Physics at the RWTH Aachen. After having received his doctoral degree at the Leibniz University Hannover, followed by postdoctoral positions at the Saarland University, Cornell University, and Boston University, he became in 1981 a permanent scientific staff member of Forschungszentrum Jülich. He held a similar position at the IBM Research Center (Zürich) in 1985/1986. Since 1996 he is a university professor at the RWTH Aachen, and he is also, since 2008, engaged in the "''Jülich Aachen Research Alliance''" (JARA). In 2012, he retired from his teaching duties. The Selke is a river of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is a right-hand tributary of the Bode that starts in the Harz Mountains before breaking out onto the northeastern Harz Foreland. Selke Valley Railway
The Selke Valley Railway (''Selketalbahn''), ''Gernrode-Harzgerode Railway'' (''Gernroder-Harzgeroder Eisenbahn'') and the ''Anhalt Harz Railway'' (''Anhaltische Harzbahn'') were different names for the metre gauge railway in the Lower Harz, Germany, originally owned by the Gernrode-Harzgerode Railway Company (''Gernrode-Harzgeroder Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft'', GHE). It is now only known as the ''Selke Valley Railway''. This has included the Quedlinburg–Gernrode line since 2006.
