Selina Solman
Selina Solman (born 8 February 1994) is a Vanuatuan cricketer and the current captain of the Vanuatu women's cricket team. She was the first female cricketer from Vanuatu to play grade cricket in Australia. She also played for the East Asia-Pacific team in the Australian Country Cricket Championships, with the International Cricket Council (ICC) saying she was a "crucial player for the team". In April 2019, she was named as the captain of Vanuatu's squad for the 2019 ICC Women's Qualifier EAP tournament, also held in Vanuatu. She made her Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) debut for Vanuatu against Papua New Guinea in the Women's Qualifier EAP tournament on 6 May 2019. All-rounder
An all-rounder is a cricketer who regularly performs well at both batting and bowling. Although all bowlers must bat and quite a handful of batsmen do bowl occasionally, most players are skilled in only one of the two disciplines and are considered specialists. Some wicket-keepers have the skills of a specialist batter and have been referred to as all-rounders, but the term ''wicket-keeper-batter'' is more commonly applied to them, even if they are substitute wicket keepers who also bowl. Definition There is no precise qualification for a player to be considered an all-rounder and use of the term tends to be subjective. 2019 ICC Women's Qualifier EAP
The 2019 ICC Women's Qualifier EAP was a cricket tournament that was held in Vanuatu in May 2019. The matches in the tournament were played as Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is), with the top team progressing to both the 2019 ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier and the 2021 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournaments. The opening days of fixtures saw Papua New Guinea win both their matches, with Ravina Oa taking a five-wicket haul against Vanuatu in the first match, and Natasha Ambo taking five wickets in the second match, against Indonesia. In the final match of the tournament, Papua New Guinea beat Samoa by seven wickets to win the EAP Qualifier. 2017 Pacific Mini Games
The 2017 Pacific Mini Games were held in Port Vila, Vanuatu, in December 2017. It was the tenth edition of the Pacific Mini Games, and the second to be hosted in Vanuatu (after the 1993 games). Host selection Vanuatu was awarded the right to host the games at a September 2011 meeting of the Pacific Games Council's General Assembly. Nauru and the Northern Mariana Islands were the other countries to bid. The event was originally planned for September 2017 but preparations were delayed by Cyclone Pam. Both rounds of voting took place on the 4 September 2011 with Nauru eliminated after the first round. In the final round, Vanuatu edged Northern Mariana Islands by 4 votes to earn hosting rights. Netball
Netball is a ball sport played on a court by two teams of seven players. It is among a rare number of sports which have been created exclusively for female competitors. The sport is played on indoor and outdoor netball courts and is specifically played in schools. Netball is most popularly played in Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth nations. The Papua New Guinea women's national cricket team, nicknamed the Lewas, represents the country of Papua New Guinea in international women's cricket. Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) is the shortest form of women's international cricket. A women's Twenty20 International is a 20 overs-per-side cricket match between two of the International Cricket Council (ICC) members. The first Twenty20 International match was held in August 2004 between England and New Zealand, six months before the first Twenty20 International match was played between two men's teams.
