American singer Selena released six studio albums, three live albums, three boxsets, one remix album, two soundtrack albums, and twenty compilation albums. Credited for elevating a music genre into the mainstream market, Selena remains the best-selling Tejano recording artist whose posthumous releases continue to outsell those of living musicians. Selena has sold 18 million units worldwide (12 millions according to Nielsen Soundscan), making her one of the best-selling artists in Latin music. She was named the top-selling Latin artist of the 1990s decade by '' Billboard'' magazine. Selena's career began as lead vocalist of Los Dinos in 1980. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade organization that represents the music recording industry in the United States. Its members consist of record labels and distributors that the RIAA says "create, manufacture, and/or distribute approximately 85% of all legally sold recorded music in the United States". Selena Etc. was a South Texas-based boutique and beauty salon, which was founded and owned by the late American singer, Selena. Selena Etc. finished its building on January 27, 1994, in Corpus Christi, Texas, which was the headquarters building. Selena opened another boutique in San Antonio, Texas, around the same time the headquarters building was complete; both were equipped with in-house beauty salons. She began manufacturing clothing along with designer Martin Gomez with designs and styles of Latin American texture and exotic clothing styles which became her trademark on stage. Yolanda Saldívar
Yolanda Saldívar (; born September 19, 1960) is an American former nurse who was convicted of the Murder of Selena, murder of singer Selena in 1995. Saldívar had been the president of Selena's fan club and the manager of her boutiques, but she lost both positions a short time before the murder, when the singer's family discovered that she had been embezzling money from both organizations. Three days after the jury found her guilty of murder, they sentenced Saldívar to Life imprisonment in the United States, life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 30 years, meaning she will become eligible for parole on March 30, 2025. Murder Of Selena
Selena Quintanilla Pérez was an American singer who achieved international fame as a member of Selena y Los Dinos and for her subsequent solo career in both Spanish and English. Her father and manager, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., appointed Yolanda Saldívar president of Selena's fan club in 1991 after Saldívar had repeatedly asked permission to start one. In January 1994, Saldívar was promoted to manager of the singer's boutiques. Soon Selena's employees, fashion designer, and cousin began complaining about Saldívar's management style. Like all ''Billboard'' album charts, the chart is based on sales. Nielsen SoundScan compiles the sales data from merchants representing more than 90 percent of the U.S. music retail market. The sample includes sales at music stores, the music departments of electronics and department stores, direct-to-consumer transactions, and Internet sales of physical albums or digital downloads. A limited array of verifiable sales from concert venues is also tabulated. To rank on this chart, an album must have 51% or more of its content recorded in Spanish. "Como la Flor" ("Like the Flower") is a song that was recorded by American singer Selena for her third studio album ''Entre a Mi Mundo'' (1992). It was written by A. B. Quintanilla and Pete Astudillo. The song was conceptualized in 1982 after A. B. saw a family selling illuminated plastic flowers at a concert in Sacramento, California. In 1992, an infectious melody stuck in A. B's head; he ran from the shower of their hotel room in Bryan, Texas, pulled out a keyboard, and immediately began working on it with Astudillo. It took A. B. 20 minutes to complete the music and took Astudillo another hour to complete the lyrics. It is an up-tempo, Tejano cumbia torch song that fuses tropical and cumbia rhythms with reggae and pop music.
