Voss () is a municipality and a traditional district in Vestland county, Norway. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Vossevangen. Other villages include Bolstadøyri, Borstrondi, Evanger, Kvitheim, Mjølfjell, Oppheim, Stalheim, and Vinje. The municipality is the 35th largest by area of Norway's 356 municipalities. Bergen Line
The Bergen Line or the Bergen Railway ( no, Bergensbanen or nn, Bergensbana), is a long scenic standard gauge railway line between Bergen and Hønefoss, Norway. The name is often applied for the entire route from Bergen via Drammen to Oslo, where the passenger trains go, a distance of . Vy (transport Operator)
Vygruppen, branded as Vy, is a government-owned railway company which operates most passenger train services and many bus services in Norway. The company is owned by the Ministry of Transport (Norway), Norwegian Ministry of Transport. Its sub-brands include Vy Buss coach services, CargoNet freight trains and the Swedish train transport company Tågkompaniet. In 2009, NSB carried 52 million train passengers and 104 million bus passengers. On 24 April 2019, passenger train and bus services were rebranded as Vy. The company was established as the Norwegian State Railways (1883–1996). Vestland
Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. The administrative centre of the county is the city of Bergen, where the executive and political leadership is based, but the County Governor is based in Hermansverk. Bergen Commuter Rail
Bergen Commuter Rail, sometimes called Vossebanen, is a commuter rail service between Bergen and Arna, Voss and Myrdal, Norway. It is operated by Vy using Stadler FLIRT electric multiple units. It runs on the mainline Bergen Line and all services terminate at Bergen Station. Service Vy operates on half-hour headways from Bergen to Arna, through the Ulriken Tunnel, the only way under the Ulriken mountain. There are further 16 departures each way to Voss, of which six stop only at Arna and Dale before Voss, not allowing trips Bergen-Arna/Bergen-Dale, while ten stop at all stations, giving three services per direction an hour between Bergen and Arna. Three services continue from Voss to Myrdal. The operational deficits are financed by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications. Tickets are sold by Vy and Entur.
