''Seema'' (English: limit, horizon) is a 1955 Bollywood film starring Balraj Sahni and Nutan, and directed by Amiya Chakravarty. The film earned high critical acclaim to female lead Nutan, it was the first film for which she won a best actress award at Filmfare. Plot After her parents pass away, teenager Gauri goes to live with her paternal uncle, Kashinath, and his wife. She is ill-treated there, made to do all the housework, and verbally abused by her aunt. She is made to work as a servant for meager wages in another household, and her earnings are taken away by her aunt. One day, Kashinath is summoned to the Police Station where he is told that since Gauri has been convicted of stealing a necklace from her employer, she is placed under his care for 12 months. Shanthakumari Nambiar (born 22 May 1951), known by her stage name Seema, is an Indian actress. She has acted in 260 films in Malayalam, 25 in Tamil, 7 in Telugu, 6 in Kannada and one in Hindi. Veteran actor Vijayan gave her the screen name Seema.Bringing a remarkable change in the style of acting from traditional Malayalam movies at that time, she was considered as the top and most popular actress of her time. Career Seema began her career in Tamil film at the age of 18 as a dancer. She debuted as an actress in director Lisa Baby's ''Nizhale Nee Sakshi'', but this film was shelved. Lehlohonolo Seema (born 9 June 1980 in Mafeteng) is a retired Lesotho football (soccer) defender and midfielder. He also holds South African citizenship. He is currently the manager of Lamontville Golden Arrows in the South African Premier Division. Seema Aissen Weatherwax (August 25, 1905 – June 25, 2006) was a Jewish-American photographer born in the Russian Empire. Born in Chernihiv, Russian Empire to Jewish parents, Avram and Reva Aissen, Seema was the middle child of three daughters. The family emigrated to England in 1913, then to Boston in 1922, where young Seema found her first job working in a photofinishing lab. She pursued this craft in Boston, New Jersey, New Mexico, California and Tahiti, but she was 95 when she first exhibited her own photographs to the public. In Los Angeles in the 1930s she joined the Film and Photo League, began her lifelong work for racial justice, and formed enduring friendships with artists and political activists including Edward Weston, Imogen Cunningham and Woody Guthrie.
