Carl Adolf Seebold
Carl Adolf Seebold (1873–1951) was a Swiss impresario who commissioned and ran the Dome Cinema in the English coastal town of Worthing in West Sussex. Swiss-born Seebold was the son of a rope manufacturer from Zürich. The father fell on hard times and turned to entertainment, playing the guitar and singing, to support a large family of nine sons and four daughters. Elmar Seebold (born September 28, 1934) is a German philologist who specializes in Germanic philology. From 1971 to 1983, Seebold was Professor of Germanic philology at the University of Fribourg. He then transferred to the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Seebold retired from the University in 1999.
