Sediliopsis Calvertensis
''Sediliopsis calvertensis'' is an extinct species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies. Description The length of the species attains 21 mm, its diameter 6 mm. (Original description) The subfusiform shell is slender and contains eight whorls. The upper third of each whorl is flat, with two or three impressed spiral lines. The lower part is strongly convex, with rounded oblique ribs which are sometimes recurved at the upper end, and are usually crossed by about four faint, regular, impressed spiral lines and another stronger one above the suture. The body whorl The body whorl is part of the morphology of the shell in those gastropod mollusks that possess a coiled shell. The term is also sometimes used in a similar way to describe the shell of a cephalopod mollusk. In gastropods In gastropods, the b ... shows about fifteen distinct impressed spirals below the costated shoulder. The lines of growth a ...

Sediliopsis Aphanitoma
''Sediliopsis aphanitoma'' is an extinct species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies. Description The length of the shell attains 21.5 mm, its diameter 8 mm. (Original description) The shell has a pointed, conical spire and large body whorl. The sculpture is obsolete on two smooth nuclear and eight later whorls. The protoconch is small and blunt. it is followed by a closely reticulated third whorl. The spiral sculpture is obscure. It consists of larger and smaller spirals, more or less alternated, but hardly interrupting the continuity of the surface, the most evident being a peripheral pair. The whorl is thickened in front of the appressed suture, and yet not distinctly to form a thread. The spirals are most distinct near the columella. The transverse sculpture consists of (about nine on the body whorl) well-marked, prominent ribs, extending on the early whorls from suture to suture, and rather wide inc ...

Pseudomelatomidae
Pseudomelatomidae is a family of predatory sea snails, marine gastropods included in the superfamily Conoidea (previously Conacea) and part of the Neogastropoda ( Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005). In 1995 Kantor elevated the subfamily Pseudomelatominae to the status of family Pseudomelatomidae. In 2011 Bouchet, Kantor ''et al''. moved the Crassispirinae and Zonulispirinae and numerous genera of snails loosely called turrid snails (which at that point had been placed in the family Conidae) and placed them in the family Pseudomelatomidae. This was based on a cladistical analysis of shell morphology, radular characteristics, anatomical characters, and a dataset of molecular sequences of three gene fragments. Genera Genera within the family Pseudomelatomidae include: * '' Abyssocomitas'' Sysoev & Kantor, 1986 * '' Aguilaria'' Taylor & Wells, 1994 * '' Anticomitas'' Powell, 1942 * '' Antimelatoma'' Powell, 1942 * '' Antiplanes'' Dall, 1902 * '' Benthodaphne'' Oyama, 1962 * † ...
