Second Tarun Gogoi Ministry
Tarun Gogoi constituted his ministry for a second time on 21 May 2006. Gogoi had previously been Chief Minister since 2001. Following the 2006 Assam Legislative Assembly election, Gogoi became Chief Minister for a second time as he had formed his first ministry previously. The coalition government was supported by the Hagrama faction of the Bodoland People's Progressive Front, NCP and independents. There were 17 cabinet ministers and one minister of state, all of whom were either Congress or Independent. Gogoi was sworn on 14 May 2006 at Raj Bhavan. Earlier, Gogoi arrived with his wife Dolly Gogoi and several newly elected MLAs at Raj Bhavan. Tarun Gogoi
Tarun Gogoi (11 October 1936 – 23 November 2020) was an Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of Assam from 2001 to 2016. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and led the party to a record three consecutive electoral victories and was the longest serving chief minister of the state. During his tenure as the chief minister, he is credited with ending militant insurgency and mitigating violence in addition to improving the state's fiscal condition. He also served six terms as a Member of parliament, Lok Sabha and served as a Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Food and Ministry of Food Processing Industries. He was posthumously awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian honour, in 2021. Hagrama Mohilary (born 1 March 1969) is an Indian politician who has served as the Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council. Mohilary was elected as the Chief of Executive Committee of the Bodoland Territorial Council which comprises thirteen other executive members. At present, he is the chairperson of the Bodoland People's Front, Mohilary had been the head of Bodoland Territorial Council since its inception in 2003. The Nationalist Congress Party ( NCP) is one of the nine national parties in India. The party generally supports Indian nationalism and Gandhian secularism.
