Second Street (Hong Kong)
Second Street ( Chinese: 第二街) is a street in the Sai Ying Pun area of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong. The street is part of planned streets in the early development. High Street, Third Street, Second Street and First Street run east to west horizontally on a slope while Centre Street, Western Street and Eastern Street run north to south steeply. Second Street is long. It has alternating one way sections, running east to west from Pok Fu Lam Road to Water Street, and from Eastern Street to Western Street. Between Pok Fu Lam Road and Western Street traffic is from west to east. On the east side of Eastern Street, it continues into Hospital Road. There are 1507 units in the street. Kwun Lung Lau
Kwun Lung Lau is a public housing estate in Kennedy Town, Hong Kong. It is one of the first public housing developments in Hong Kong, built in 1967 to alleviate a housing crisis in the territory. It is on 20 Lung Wah Street. It consists of seven buildings, namely Block A - G. The overall shape was that of a snaking dragon, and hence its name which means ''Watching Dragon Building'' in Chinese. Kwun Lung Lau is also famous for a landslide on 23 July 1994 that killed five people and injured three. Leaking water and heavy rain had built up behind a masonry retaining wall, which was too thin, and subsequently collapsed. This disaster caused a major review of slope safety in Hong Kong. Water Street ( Chinese: 水街) is a street in Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong. It runs from Connaught Road, crossing Des Voeux Road West and Queen's Road West then climbing steeply up the hill crossing Second Street, Third Street and then end in steps to High Street and Pok Fu Lam Road conjunction. Originally, there was a nullah in the middle of the street carrying water from the hills down to the harbour. Sai Ying Pun is an area in Western District, on Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong. It is administratively part of the Central and Western District. Etymology In Cantonese, ''Sai'' () means "west" and ''Ying Pun'' () means "camp", especially a military camp. It was where the early British military stayed. Location Sai Ying Pun is built on the steeply sloping lower slopes of Victoria Peak and also on the western reclamation. The areas of Shek Tong Tsui and Kennedy Town are located to the west, Sheung Wan and Tai Ping Shan are to the east, and the Mid-Levels is higher up the hill to the south.
