Second Kalvītis Cabinet
The second Kalvītis cabinet was the government of Latvia from 7 November 2006 to 20 December 2007. It was the second government to be led by Aigars Kalvītis, who had previously been Prime Minister of Latvia, prime minister since 2004. It took office on 7 November 2006, after the 2006 Latvian parliamentary election, October 2006 election, succeeding the first Kalvītis cabinet, which had lasted from 2004 to 2006. The government of Latvia is the central government of the Republic of Latvia. The Constitution of Latvia () defines Latvia as a parliamentary republic represented by a unicameral parliament (Saeima) and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia (), which form the executive branch of Latvia. Since the early 2000s cabinet meetings in Latvia have been open to the public. In June 2013, the Latvian government became one of the first in Europe to offer live internet broadcasts of cabinet meetings. Ivars Godmanis
Ivars Godmanis (born 27 November 1951) is a Latvian politician who served as the prime minister of Latvia from 1990 to 1993 and again from 2007 to 2009. He was the first prime minister of Latvia after the country restored its independence from the Soviet Union. Political career Godmanis served as prime minister from 1990 to 1993, focusing primarily on Latvia's difficult economic transition from planned to market economy. In 1995 Godmanis was awarded the Order of the Three Stars. He later served as the Minister of Finance from 1998 to 1999.
